About Horse Festival

The Horse Festival in San Francesco al Campo is one of the most beloved events in the Canavese region. Held over a weekend in late May, it is entirely dedicated to the equestrian world and much more. The Velodromo Francone hosts horse rallies in the Parco delle Vaude, an equestrian Talent Show, the Palio dei Borghi, exhibitions, children's workshops, food stalls, and dance evenings. This local festival attracts thousands of visitors every year from across the province of Turin and the Piedmont region.

The Horse Festival of San Francesco al Campo

In the heart of the Canavese, just outside Turin, the town of San Francesco al Campo hosts one of the area's most cherished local festivals every year in late May: the Horse Festival. Organized by the Pro Loco with the support of the municipal administration, the event transforms the Velodromo Francone and its surrounding areas for three days into a vibrant village where the equestrian world meets local tradition, sport, and entertainment for all ages.

An event that grows every year

What began as a small local celebration has evolved over the years into a major attraction for the entire province of Turin and Piedmont, drawing equestrian enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors alike. While the horse remains the central theme—starring in rallies, skill games, and demonstrations—the program has expanded year after year to include activities that go far beyond horse riding.

What to experience at the festival

  • Horse Rally in the Parco delle Vaude: A scenic ride immersed in nature that kicks off the main day.
  • Equestrian Talent Show: An evening gala showcasing the skills of horses and riders under the spotlights of the Velodromo.
  • Palio dei Borghi: A lighthearted competition between the town's districts, featuring bocce tournaments and a mechanical bull.
  • Workshops and entertainment: Meetings with ponies, llamas, and alpacas, activities for children, and themed exhibitions.
  • Food stalls: Featuring country-style menus and local dishes, plus dance evenings with country dancing, music, and DJs.

A festival for the whole community

The Horse Festival is, above all, a community celebration: the Palio dei Borghi engages the various districts of San Francesco al Campo in friendly competition, while markets, vintage car displays, and themed collections round out a program designed to involve both adults and children. It is a weekend that captures the rural and welcoming spirit of this corner of the Canavese, in the province of Turin.

Horse Festival — edition 2026

The 25th edition of the Horse Festival took place from May 29 to 31, 2026, at the Velodromo Francone in San Francesco al Campo, featuring a record-breaking program: a horse rally in the Parco delle Vaude, the third equestrian Talent Show, the tenth Palio dei Borghi, a Lego exhibition, vintage cars, llama and alpaca workshops, polocrosse, and country and 90s-themed dance nights.

The 25th Horse Festival of San Francesco al Campo, in the province of Turin, celebrated a major milestone with an edition described as record-breaking in terms of turnout and activities.
