The feast of Saints Peter and Paul, patron saints of Volpiano
At the end of June, the town of Volpiano, in the province of Turin, comes to a standstill to celebrate its patron saints, Peter and Paul. The SS. Peter and Paul Patronal Feast is the most anticipated event of the Volpiano summer: a tradition that weaves together religious devotion, music, gastronomy, and social life, involving the various districts of the town, the local conscripts, and the entire Canavese community.
The beating heart of the festival is Piazza Italia, along Corso Platone, where every evening the food and wine stands managed by the Pro Loco of Volpiano come to life: bars, street food, pizza, pasta dishes, and grilled meats accompany the musical performances. The program alternates between pop music evenings, cover bands, and ballroom dancing, with orchestras and groups keeping both young and old dancing until late at night.
Alongside the entertainment, the festival preserves its original significance. Sunday is dedicated to the Solemn Holy Mass and the community lunch at the San Giuseppe Oratory, while on June 29th, the liturgical day of Saints Peter and Paul, the evening celebration is followed by the traditional procession through the streets of the townโa moment of strong popular participation that has defined the identity of Volpiano for generations.
During the festival days, rides and a funfair are set up in designated areas of the town, making the event suitable for children as well. The event is organized by the Pro Loco together with the Volpiano districts and the local conscripts, under the patronage of the Municipality of Volpiano.
The Volpiano Patronal Feast is one of the most deeply rooted popular festivals in the Canavese region, in the heart of Piedmont: an opportunity to rediscover local traditions, taste the flavors of Piedmontese cuisine, and experience the community spirit that characterizes this corner of the province of Turin. Admission to the stands and shows is free.
The Municipality of Volpiano confirms its patronal feast for 2026, scheduled from June 26th to 29th in Piazza Italia.
Every evening, musical shows and Pro Loco food stands enliven the town center, building up to the religious celebrations of the weekend.
During the festival days, rides and a funfair are available.
Volpiano is located about 20 km north of Turin. By car, it can be reached via the A5 Turin-Aosta motorway (Volpiano exit) or from the Turin ring road. By train, the Volpiano station is served by the SFM1 line of the Turin Metropolitan Railway Service.
The main events and food stands are held in Piazza Italia (Corso Platone 30). Religious services take place in the parish church, and the San Giuseppe Oratory hosts the community lunch.
Free admission to shows and stands. The Sunday lunch requires a reservation. For information: Pro Loco Volpiano, tel. +39 011 9884131.
