About Honey Festival

Every October, the medieval village of Belforte all'Isauro, in the heart of the Pesaro Montefeltro area, transforms into the capital of honey. Between tasting stands, live honey extraction, the aroma of truffles and mushrooms, and traditional honey-based desserts, the Honey and Autumn Products Festival celebrates an ancient gastronomic culture made of beekeepers, artisans, and genuine flavors, accompanied by music, markets, and workshops for families.

The festival celebrating the gold of the Apennines

Known since ancient times as the nectar of the gods, honey is the absolute star of the Honey and Autumn Products Festival in Belforte all'Isauro, a small village of about 800 inhabitants perched on a rocky spur between the Isauro and Fossato streams, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. It's no coincidence that the village is part of the national circuit of Cities of Honey: beekeeping is a deep-rooted tradition here, and every autumn the historic center comes alive to pay homage to it.

Honeys, flavors, and local products

Along the village streets, you'll find producers with their prized honeys: acacia, wildflower, chestnut, and honeydew, alongside propolis, wax, and other hive products. But the festival is also a journey into the flavors of the Apennine autumn, bordering Tuscany and the Alpe della Luna:

  • Honey-based sweets and local specialties, from croccante (brittle) to cicerchiata (honey balls)
  • Artisanal jams and preserves
  • Mushrooms and truffles from Montefeltro, on display
  • Traditional cheeses paired with honey in guided tastings
  • Typical dishes offered by food stands

Culture, education, and the world of bees

The event is not just about gastronomy. Beekeepers meet the public, show their hives, and talk about their work with live honey extraction demonstrations and hive visits. For the little ones, there are educational paths and nature-themed workshops, while for everyone, there are markets featuring artisans and hobbyists, and musical performances that accompany the days, culminating in the "Borgo in Festa" (Village in Celebration) route with the historic center's cellars.

A village to discover

The Honey Festival is the perfect opportunity to visit Belforte all'Isauro, dominated by its castle redesigned for the Montefeltro family by architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, with the church of San Lorenzo and the characteristic Neo-Gothic style Tricuspid Tabernacle. All around, the landscape of the upper Foglia valley with Monte Carpegna in the background invites excursions to the Sasso Simone and Simoncello Park. A weekend that combines taste, nature, and tradition in the heart of the Marche hinterland, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.
