Autumn Sundays in the Malatesta village of Montefiore Conca

The Boar and Chestnut Festival in Montefiore Conca is one of the most deeply rooted gastronomic events of the Romagna autumn. Organized by the Pro Loco of Montefiore Conca since 1964, the event will reach its 62nd edition in 2026, confirming itself as one of the longest-running festivals in the province of Rimini and the entire Emilia-Romagna region. It takes place every Sunday in October in the alleys of the historic center, dominated by the evocative Malatesta fortress.
The undisputed stars of the festival are the chestnuts, offered in a thousand variations: roasted as caldarroste, boiled, or transformed into rustic desserts. Alongside them are dishes based on boar and the typical flavors of Romagna cuisine, accompanied by excellent Sangiovese wine from the hills of Valconca. Don't miss the wine fountain, accessible to those who purchase the characteristic festival jug. Food stalls and markets selling local products and crafts line the village streets.
In addition to food, the festival offers a rich entertainment program. From early afternoon, musical groups, folk orchestras, DJ sets, and itinerant bands alternate, with performances animating the squares and streets of the village. There are also flag-thrower performances in the fortress courtyard, archery contests, photographic exhibitions, and markets for children.
The festival is also an opportunity to discover one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. The Malatesta fortress, which overlooks Valconca from the top of the hill, opens its doors with guided tours, while the Gothic Line Museum commemorates the area's wartime history. Amidst panoramas stretching from the hills to the Adriatic Sea, a day in Montefiore Conca combines taste, history, and popular tradition.
A day immersed in the colors and flavors of autumn, in the heart of the Municipality of Montefiore Conca, in Emilia-Romagna.
In 2026, the Boar and Chestnut Festival in Montefiore Conca will reach its 62nd edition. The event, as every year, is expected to liven up the Sundays of October in the historic center of the village, in the province of Rimini.
Indicative dates suggest it will take place on Sundays in October; the official dates and detailed program will be published by the Pro Loco of Montefiore Conca. The usual format is confirmed: roasted chestnuts, chestnut desserts, boar dishes, Sangiovese wine fountain, markets for local products, live music, and visits to the Malatesta fortress.
Montefiore Conca is located in the Rimini hinterland, in Valconca. By car: from the A14 motorway, take the Cattolica/Riccione exit, then follow the SP17 towards the hinterland (approx. 15 km). The village is about 30 km from Rimini.
Stalls and markets are open from 11:00 AM until evening, every Sunday in October. Entertainment and musical performances start in the afternoon (from around 3:00 PM).
Admission to the festival is free. Food and drinks, and the jug for the wine fountain, are at your own expense.
