The great autumn market fair in the heart of Cesena
The Autumn Fair is one of the most anticipated events in the calendar of fairs and markets in the municipality of Cesena, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, on the third Sunday of October, the city's main square comes alive from morning till evening with the stalls of the large special market, which invades Piazza del Popolo and extends along Viale Mazzoni and Via Pio Battistini, right up to the walls of the Rocca Malatestiana.
The absolute stars of the fair are the typical autumn products. Among the stalls, you'll find mainly chestnuts and wine, but also seasonal fruits and products from the woods and undergrowth. It's an opportunity to shop, discover new autumn offerings from vendors, and stroll through the historic center amidst aromas, sounds, and stalls.
The Autumn Fair is much more than a market: it's a moment of meeting and socializing that transforms Cesena's squares into vibrant places, benefiting local commerce. The event is organized by the Municipality of Cesena together with the trade associations FIVA Confcommercio and ANVA Confesercenti, in collaboration with local organizations. For the entire day, traffic and parking restrictions are in place in the affected streets, making the center completely pedestrian-friendly and safe for those strolling among the stalls.
The Autumn Fair is part of a rich city fair tradition that marks the Cesena year: the Spring Fair in March, the St. John's Festival in June, and the Christmas Fair in December. These events liven up the historic center, from Piazza del Popolo to the municipal loggia, and attract locals and visitors from all over Romagna.
The 2026 Autumn Fair will be held on Sunday, October 18, in the historic center of Cesena, as established by the calendar of fairs and markets approved by the Municipal Council in agreement with the trade associations FIVA and ANVA. The special market will occupy Piazza del Popolo and extend along Viale Mazzoni and Via Pio Battistini until 8:00 PM.
Based on previous editions, over a hundred vendors are expected with typical autumn products—chestnuts, wine, seasonal fruits, and forest products—in addition to the usual free tastings of roasted chestnuts and sweet wine in the afternoon. Details on exhibitors and related initiatives will be communicated by the Municipality in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program and the list of exhibitors for the 2026 edition will be communicated by the Municipality of Cesena in the weeks before the event.
