The White Truffle and Potato Market Exhibition is the most anticipated autumn event in Pietralunga, a small municipality in the province of Perugia perched on the Umbrian-Marche Apennines. For decades, the event has celebrated the two symbolic products of the territory: the prized white truffle, which grows in the dense woods of the area, and the Pietralunga potato, cultivated on the high-altitude land and which has become a small regional gastronomic excellence.

What's on display

During the opening weekends, the historic center comes alive with food and wine stands, markets selling local products, and artisan workshops. The program revolves around various experiences:

• Cooking shows with local chefs and gourmets, who demonstrate how to enhance truffle and potato in cooking;
• Guided tastings of truffle-based dishes, paired with Umbrian wines;
• Excursions in the woods and truffle hunting demonstrations with truffle dogs (the famous "trifola");
• Walks and sporting events, including mountain bike tours and the "La Tartufissima" running race.

A territory to discover

The exhibition is also an opportunity to discover Pietralunga and the Upper Tiber Valley, with the Parish Church of Santa Maria, the Lombard fortress, and the Apennine panoramas. The event helps to promote one of the most important truffle-producing areas in Umbria, where truffle harvesting is an integral part of the local culture and economy.
