The great food and wine festival of Gorizia, the world on a plate
Gusti di Frontiera is much more than a local festival: it is the largest food and wine event in the Northeast and one of the most impressive in Italy. Every year, at the end of September, the historic center of Gorizia transforms into a grand market of world flavors, organized into themed villages representing different geographical and cultural areas. Promoted by the Municipality of Gorizia, the festival has become the symbol of a border city that makes the encounter between peoples and cultures its identity.
The heart of the event is the division of the city center into themed villages: Africa, Americas, Latin America, Austria, Central Europe, France, Northern Europe, East, Slovenia and the Balkans, and then the Friuli Venezia Giulia village, the Italy village, the fish village, the market, and the food truck area. Hundreds of stands offer dishes, desserts, wines, beers, and typical products from dozens of countries, on a gastronomic journey that crosses continents without leaving the city streets.
With hundreds of exhibitors and cuisines from about fifty nations, Gusti di Frontiera attracts an impressive crowd of visitors every year from all over the Triveneto region and neighboring Slovenia. Gorizia's location, a stone's throw from the border, and its cross-border vocation make the event truly international in scope, capable of animating the entire historic center from morning till late at night.
Strolling through the villages of Gusti di Frontiera means tasting the whole world within a few hundred meters, amidst aromas, music, and the lively atmosphere of a great popular festival. An unmissable event for lovers of good food and for those who want to discover Gorizia at its most effervescent moment.
The 21st edition of Gusti di Frontiera is scheduled in Gorizia from Thursday, September 24th to Sunday, September 27th, 2026. This year again, the historic center will be reorganized into the traditional themed villages: Africa, Americas, Latin America, Austria, Central Europe, France, Northern Europe, East, Slovenia and the Balkans, as well as the Friuli Venezia Giulia village, the Italy village, the fish village, the market, and the food truck area.
For the 2026 edition, the municipal administration has announced a reorganization of the city center spaces, confirming the successful formula of the themed villages. Contacts are ongoing with the Municipality of Nova Gorica to define potential cross-border participation. The call for exhibitors received about three hundred applications, with a particular focus on the quality of proposals.
