Wine and authentic flavours in the alleys of Grado
At the end of October, when seaside tourism gives way to a more intimate, autumnal island, the historic centre of Grado comes alive with Le Calli di Bacco, the food and wine event that brings wine and lagoon flavours to the charming alleys and squares of the old town. Promoted and organised by Confcommercio Gorizia for the Municipality of Grado, the event focuses on "the authentic flavour of the Island of Grado".
The island's restaurateurs guide visitors on tasting itineraries along the ancient streets of the village, discovering seasonal catches and typical lagoon dishes. Tasting stands, guided tastings, cooking shows, and meetings with producers mark the days, accompanied by wines from the Friuli region and the voices of the winemakers. The alleys thus become one large open-air wine bar.
The protagonist is the link between sea and land: Grado's lagoon fish meets the wines of the Friulian hills, in a dialogue that tells the food and wine identity of this corner of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is an opportunity to discover an autumnal Grado, authentic and gourmet, far from the summer crowds.
Born in 2025, Le Calli di Bacco has won over the public and operators since its first edition, so much so that it has expanded beyond the historic centre. The direction of Confcommercio Gorizia and the support of the Municipality of Grado make it one of the most promising food and wine events in the autumn calendar of the Island of the Sun.
Building on the success of its debut, Le Calli di Bacco is doubling down: the 2026 edition (October 23-25) expands the food and wine route beyond the historic centre, involving a greater number of restaurateurs and wineries. The formula of tasting itineraries through the alleys, with lagoon catches and Friulian wines as protagonists, is confirmed.
The event unfolds over three days with scattered tasting stands, guided tastings, cooking shows, and meetings with winemakers and restaurateurs along the alleys and squares of Grado. Following the first edition, the programme includes an official opening with an inaugural ceremony, an exclusive tasting curated by a sommelier on the seafront, tasting routes in the city streets, and a bike tour to discover the area.
The detailed programme with times and participating wineries will be announced in the weeks preceding the event on the Confcommercio Gorizia channels.
Grado is accessible from the A4 motorway (Palmanova or Latisana exits) and the SS352; the historic centre is pedestrianised and easily explored on foot.
Some guided tastings require booking; tasting stands located in the alleys are free to access with paid consumption.
In the low season, Grado's accommodation options are more affordable; numerous hotels and B&Bs in the historic centre remain open.
