The Granfondo Torrevecchia Teatina Diemme Sport is one of the most popular road cycling events on the Adriatic side of Abruzzo. It takes place in the municipality of Torrevecchia Teatina, in the province of Chieti (Abruzzo), with the start and finish in the central Piazza San Rocco. Established in 2023 by Diemme Sport, a local company specializing in technical apparel for cycling, triathlon, and running entirely made in Italy, the race has quickly established itself as a favored stop for amateurs in Central Italy.

Two routes through hills and vineyards

The event offers two tracks, designed to accommodate both highly trained cyclists and those looking for a more accessible yet still scenic challenge:

• Granfondo (130 km): the long, muscular route, alternating short, punchy climbs with more steady ascents, mapping out a demanding itinerary through the Teatine hills.
• Mediofondo (97 km): the medium variant, faster and less extreme, ideal for those who want to experience the race at a steady pace while enjoying the landscape.

The territory crossed stretches between the slopes of the Majella and the blue of the Adriatic sea, amidst vineyards, olive groves, and welcoming small villages that frame a ride immersed in the Chieti hinterland.

A growing event

Following the 2024 edition, held on April 25th as part of the Circuito Gran Fondo Volchem, and the cancellation of the 2025 event due to organizational difficulties, the organizers have relaunched the event with a step up in quality: the 2026 edition is now part of the prestigious Circuito Granfondo Marche, a partnership between Abruzzo and Marche that testifies to the event's growth and expands its pool of participants.

More than just a race

The Granfondo Torrevecchia Teatina is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the hilly Abruzzo region, just a few kilometers from Chieti and the Trabocchi Coast. The local hospitality, refreshment points along the route, and the traditional pasta party at the finish line complete a day dedicated to the passion for cycling and the pleasure of riding in a genuine and welcoming environment.
