A gourmet walking tour through the country lanes of Cerratina
The Magnalonga of Cerratina is one of the most anticipated food and wine events in the Pianella area, in the province of Pescara, in the heart of the hilly Abruzzo region. It is a non-competitive gourmet walk that traverses the country roads of the Cerratina hamlet, marked by several stops where walkers can enjoy traditional dishes and local products. The format, now widespread throughout Italy under the name "magnalonga," combines the pleasure of outdoor walking with the conviviality of the table and the promotion of local gastronomic excellence.
The route winds along the districts and dirt roads surrounding Cerratina, amidst vineyards, olive groves, and glimpses of the Abruzzo hills. At each stop, participants find a refreshment point managed by local associations and volunteers, where appetizers, first courses, main courses, and desserts of the peasant tradition are served, all accompanied by local wines. The walk thus becomes a true itinerary of taste, designed to showcase the genuine cuisine of Pianella and its rural roots.
The Magnalonga is much more than a gastronomic event: it is an opportunity for the entire community of Cerratina and visitors from neighboring towns to meet. The atmosphere is that typical of Abruzzo village festivals, characterized by hospitality, cheerfulness, and a sense of belonging. The event, which has reached its eleventh edition in recent years, is a staple of the local calendar and ideally closes the summer and autumn season of events promoted by the Municipality of Pianella.
Cerratina is one of the hamlets of the Municipality of Pianella, a village in the province of Pescara known for its production of extra virgin olive oil and wine. The territory, which extends over the hills between the Val Pescara and the Tavo river, preserves a strong agricultural and gastronomic tradition that the Magnalonga helps to keep alive. Participating in this walk means discovering an authentic side of Abruzzo, far from the most touristy destinations, amidst genuine flavors and rural landscapes.
The Magnalonga of Cerratina 2026 will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in the hamlet of Cerratina, in Pianella (Pescara). The event is part of the official 2026 Summer calendar of Pianella, of which it represents the final appointment, and confirms the tradition of the gourmet walking tour through the country districts with stops dedicated to local specialties.
The detailed program of the day, including departure times, the route, and gastronomic stops, will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event through the channels of the Municipality of Pianella and local associations.
Cerratina is a hamlet of Pianella (PE), reachable by car from the A25 (Chieti-Pescara exit) or the A14 (Pescara Ovest-Chieti exit), then continuing in the direction of Pianella. The nearest airport is the Abruzzo Airport in Pescara, about 20 km away.
Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking on country roads are recommended. For information on times, participation fees, and reservations, it is advisable to contact the Municipality of Pianella or the local Pro Loco near the date of the event.
