About Golosaria Ottiglio

Golosaria Monferrato is a major widespread event that transforms the hills between the provinces of Alessandria and Asti into a stage for taste, wine, and culture every spring. The municipality of Ottiglio, along with its hamlet Moleto, participates with a program featuring walks, food and wine cycling tours through the vineyards, visits to local churches, and tastings of typical local products. A day to discover the most authentic soul of the Monferrato hills, away from the crowds and immersed in a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.

Ottiglio in the heart of Golosaria Monferrato

Every spring, Golosaria Monferrato lights up the hills between the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, turning them into a vast, widespread festival dedicated to the taste, wine, and culture of the region. Promoted by Paolo Massobrio and Marco Gatti's ilGolosario, the event involves over forty towns and has its main hub at the Castle of Casale Monferrato. Ottiglio, a small municipality in the Province of Alessandria in the heart of the Casalese Monferrato, is one of the most evocative stops thanks to its hamlet Moleto, a village nestled among the vineyards.

The program in Ottiglio and Moleto

Ottiglio is part of the itinerary that crosses the municipalities of the hilly unit together with Cella Monte, Altavilla Monferrato, Fubine, Grazzano Badoglio, Olivola, and Frassinello. The town's most characteristic offering is the food and wine cycling tour starting and ending in Moleto: a route of about 30 kilometers through the municipalities of the hilly unit, passing through Casorzo, Fubine, and Altavilla, punctuated by stops and tastings.

  • Cycling through the Monferrato vineyards with gourmet stops
  • Visits to local churches and the local artistic heritage
  • Tastings of typical products and the De.Co. (Municipal Designation of Origin) excellences of Ottiglio
  • Meetings on the theme of taste and the hills

A World Heritage territory

Ottiglio and the entire Monferrato region are part of the vineyard landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Walking or cycling through these villages during Golosaria means crossing rows of vines, infernot (underground cellars) carved into the stone, and ancient parish churches, while savoring wines like Barbera del Monferrato and products from the hills' emerging olive cultivation. It is the ideal opportunity to experience the Piedmont region in its most genuine and slow-paced version.

Why it is worth it

Unlike large city events, the Golosaria stops in Ottiglio offer an intimate, human-scale experience where the hilly landscape is the true protagonist. Between a tasting and a cultural visit, you can breathe in the most authentic Monferrato hospitality here, made up of small producers, local associations, and Pro Loco groups that bring the village to life throughout the weekend.

Golosaria Ottiglio — edition 2026

For its 20th anniversary, Golosaria Monferrato celebrated two decades with an extraordinary edition on May 16 and 17, 2026, across over forty towns in the provinces of Alessandria and Asti. The theme of the year was "Taste, home, and the hills". In Ottiglio and the hamlet of Moleto, the program featured the food and wine cycling tour and meetings on local excellences.

The 2026 edition of Golosaria Monferrato celebrated the event's twentieth anniversary on the weekend of May 16 and 17, with its main hub at the Castle of Casale Monferrato, where about 50 producers selected by ilGolosario, street food, craft breweries, and a Barbera & Champagne section with over 200 labels were present.
