In Altavilla Monferrato, a small town in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont, the event centers around the historic Distilleria Mazzetti d'Altavilla, located at Viale Unità d'Italia 2. For an entire weekend, the village becomes a hub for enthusiasts of grappa, spirits, and typical Monferrato products.

A festival spread across the hills

Golosaria in Monferrato is a widespread event that embraces over forty municipalities in the Monferrato hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The formula combines guided tours with tastings, workshops, performances, food and wine markets, themed lunches and dinners, and outdoor adventures, with routes that invite you to discover the territory by bicycle. Altavilla is one of the most characteristic stops thanks to its historic distillery, which is open to the public.

At the Distilleria Mazzetti d'Altavilla

The Distilleria Mazzetti d'Altavilla, distilling since 1846, welcomes visitors with mindful tastings of grappas, liqueurs, brandy, whisky, amari, gin, bitters, and fruit in liqueur. Guided tours, available by reservation, lead through the Historic Park, the Votive Chapel, the Garden, the Pomace Courtyard, the Distillery, the Aging Cellar, and the Grappa Gallery, including guided tasting sessions to learn proper tasting techniques. Proposals also include short free tours of the Barrel Room, subject to availability and reservation.

Grappa and Flavors of Monferrato

The side event Grappa and Flavors of Monferrato, organized by the Cultural Circle 'I Marchesi del Monferrato' in collaboration with Mazzetti d'Altavilla, is part of this stop. The meeting offers a welcome drink, an introduction to the art of distillation, a presentation of the production phases of spirits, a sensory tasting of three grappas accompanied by local products, a concluding reading by the Cultural Circle, and a visit to the aging cellar and the Grappa Store. Admission is free, with mandatory reservation.
