About Nozzoli Prize

The Giuliano Nozzoli Art Prize is a contemporary art competition that brings the works of fifty finalists, selected for their quality and originality, to San Vincenzo, in the province of Livorno, every year. The exhibition is held within the evocative setting of the Torre di San Vincenzo, overlooking the Tuscan coast, and takes visitors on a journey through painting, sculpture, and more experimental visual languages. This initiative aims to support emerging artists by offering them a tangible launchpad into the art world.

A prize for contemporary art in San Vincenzo

The Giuliano Nozzoli Art Prize is a contemporary art competition held in San Vincenzo, an elegant seaside town in the province of Livorno, in the heart of the Tuscan Etruscan Coast. Promoted by the Giuliano Nozzoli Cultural Association in collaboration with the historic Nozzoli Art Gallery in Empoli and Vault Art Consulting, the prize is dedicated to the memory of the gallerist and patron Giuliano Nozzoli, who passed away in 2017 after over forty years of service to art and artists.

The venue: the Torre di San Vincenzo

The finalists' works are displayed within the Torre di San Vincenzo, an ancient bulwark overlooking the sea and a symbol of the town, located on Via della Torre. The setting, suspended between the seafront and the historic center, gives the exhibition a particularly evocative atmosphere, especially on summer evenings when the public can visit the display after sunset.

The competition and the finalists

Every year, the prize receives approximately 1,500 entries from all over Italy. A jury of experts selects fifty finalists, whose works make up the collective exhibition set up at the Tower. The selection rewards the quality and originality of the proposals, ranging from painting and sculpture to photography and other contemporary art forms.

  • Approximately 1,500 entries each year
  • 50 finalists on display
  • 3 overall winners chosen by the jury

The prizes

The three overall winners are awarded a dedicated exhibition at the renowned Nozzoli Art Gallery in Empoli, along with the publication of an official catalog; two works from each winner also remain on display at the gallery throughout the year. More than just a symbolic recognition, the prize serves as a concrete professional opportunity for emerging artists.

The jury

The works are evaluated by a qualified jury consisting of art expert Lorenzo Nannelli, Professor Daniele Govi, artist and painting instructor, and Nicola Nozzoli, owner of the Nozzoli Art Gallery. The event is held under the patronage of the Municipality of San Vincenzo and represents one of the most anticipated cultural appointments of the summer on the Etruscan Coast, in Tuscany.

The fifth edition of the Giuliano Nozzoli Art Prize takes place from June 13 to July 5, 2026, at the Torre di San Vincenzo, with the inauguration on Saturday, June 13 at 9:30 PM. The works of the fifty finalists selected from approximately 1,500 entries will be on display.
