Giro Notturno «La Strada del Miele» Night Run

An evening run through the Roero hills

The Giro Notturno «La Strada del Miele» is one of the most beloved running events in the Alba area. It takes place in Piobesi d'Alba, a small town in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of the Piedmontese Roero region. The event offers a non-competitive 8.5 km run to be tackled during the cool evening hours, as the sun sets over the vines and the landscape is painted in the colors of dusk.

The route through vineyards and countryside

The course is predominantly hilly, with a moderate but significant elevation gain that tests both legs and lungs. After the first few relatively flat kilometers near the town, the route climbs through switchbacks into the woods, descends along dirt roads in the valley toward the Reala hamlet in the territory of Corneliano d'Alba, and finally rises back up through the rows of vines with a challenging asphalt stretch before the finish line. Breathtaking views and the scents of the countryside accompany participants throughout the run.

The bond with honey and the territory

The event's name reflects the vocation of the Roero, a land of beekeepers and authentic products. The «Strada del Miele» (Honey Road) is a tribute to this tradition: in recent editions, the route has passed by local beekeeping farms, and participants are often gifted a jar of honey as a souvenir of the evening.

Sport, conviviality, and the «third half»

The race is a non-competitive event open to runners, amateurs, and walkers, without the pressure of a stopwatch: the goal is to enjoy an evening outdoors together. After the finish, there is the classic «third half», a convivial moment with a dinner that brings athletes and their companions together, sealing the friendly spirit of the event.

A long-standing tradition

Now in its 39th edition, the event is organized by the A.S.D. Gruppo Podisti Albesi, a historic sports club from Alba that is very active in the Piedmont Region running calendar. Included in the FIDAL regional calendar, the race represents an opportunity for Piobesi d'Alba and the entire Roero region to combine sporting passion, landscape discovery, and the promotion of local products.
