The great Dolomite stage of the women's Corsa Rosa arrives in Comelico
The Giro d'Italia Women is the premier stage race in Italian women's cycling. In 2026, one of its most challenging legs concludes in Santo Stefano di Cadore, the main town in Comelico, in the province of Belluno: on June 3rd, the village becomes the finish line for the fifth stage, the great Dolomite day of the race.
The leg starts in Longarone and covers 146 kilometers with approximately 3,400 meters of elevation gain. After about fifty kilometers, the route tackles the Passo Tre Croci (7.9 km at an average gradient of 7.2%), then the long climb towards the Passo Sant'Antonio from Auronzo di Cadore (8.3 km at 7.5% gradient with peaks of 15%), and finally the double ascent of the Costa (4 km with an average gradient over 9%). From the last summit, there are 16 kilometers of descent to the finish in Santo Stefano di Cadore.
The stage finish transforms Santo Stefano di Cadore into a grand stage for international cycling: roadside fans, the advertising caravan, and the anticipation for the sprint or the action of the best climbers. A crucial stage for the general classification, bringing the excitement of the women's Corsa Rosa to Comelico and an opportunity for promotion for the Belluno territory.
