The Corsa Rosa crosses the Comelico region amidst the Belluno Dolomites
The Giro d'Italia Women, the most important stage race in international women's cycling, stops in 2026 in the Belluno Dolomites. The fifth stage, scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026, connects Longarone to Santo Stefano di Cadore, crossing the territory of San Nicolò di Comelico, a small municipality in the province of Belluno nestled in the Comelico valley.
With 146 kilometers and 3,400 meters of elevation gain, the stage is one of the most challenging of the entire race. The route tackles the Passo Tre Croci, the Passo di Sant'Antonio, and above all the Costa climb, short but fierce: just 4 km with an average gradient of over 9%. Right on the Costa climb, in the territory of San Nicolò di Comelico, there is a flying sprint with time bonuses that could prove decisive for the general classification.
Positioned immediately after the individual time trial, this stage is considered one of the queen stages of the women's Corsa Rosa. For fans and the community of San Nicolò di Comelico, it is an opportunity to see the world's best cyclists tackle the Dolomite climbs live, in a day of sporting celebration that brings top international cycling to the heart of Comelico, in the province of Belluno.
The fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia Women 2026 is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3 on the Longarone-Santo Stefano di Cadore route (146 km, 3,400 m elevation gain). After about 50 km, the race tackles the Passo Tre Croci (7.9 km at 7.2%), then climbs towards the Passo di Sant'Antonio (8.3 km at 7.5%, peaks of 15%), and finally the double ascent of the Costa climb (4 km at over 9% average). In San Nicolò di Comelico, on the Costa climb, the flying sprint with bonuses is located. From the last summit, there are 16 km remaining, all downhill, to the finish line.

San Nicolò di Comelico can be reached by car from Belluno along the SS51 Alemagna state road to Santo Stefano di Cadore, then continuing into the Comelico valley. Road closures are planned along the route on the day of the race.
