Canoeing at the Foot of the Tre Cime
The Gara Internazionale di Canoa Velocità e Paracanoa is one of the most anticipated sporting events of the summer in Auronzo di Cadore, in the province of Belluno. The competition takes place on Lake Santa Caterina, the artificial basin that stretches at the foot of the Dolomites, in a natural setting that makes this race a unique event on the national scene.
An International Tradition
With over forty years of history, the event attracts canoeists from numerous European nations. The races are held over distances of 1000, 500, and 200 meters and involve all competitive categories: Under 16, Junior, Senior, and Master. Ample space is dedicated to paracanoe, the Paralympic discipline that makes this race an event focused on sporting inclusion.
A Hub for European Canoeing
Organized by Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat ASD with the patronage of the Municipality of Auronzo di Cadore and Venice Sport Events, the competition takes place under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) and the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation (FICK). Lake Santa Caterina, thanks to its technical facilities — jetties, support catamarans, automatic starting blocks, and accessible structures — aims to become a European hub for international technical training camps.
Canoa Velocità Auronzo — edition 2026
From July 3 to 5, 2026, Lake Santa Caterina in Auronzo di Cadore will host the 45th edition of the Gara Internazionale di Canoa Velocità e Paracanoa. Three days of international competitions, with qualifiers and finals over all Olympic distances, organized by Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat ASD under the auspices of ICF and FICK.

How to Get There
Auronzo di Cadore can be reached by car from the A27 motorway (exit Pian di Vedoia, then SS51). Lake Santa Caterina is located just outside the town center. The nearest train station is Calalzo-Pieve di Cadore-Cortina.
