The finish of the queen stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia at Piani di Pezzè
On May 29, 2026, the nineteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia brought the pink caravan into the heart of the Belluno Dolomites, with an uphill finish at Piani di Pezzè above Alleghe, in the province of Belluno. The stage, which started from Feltre, was the so-called "queen stage" of the 109th edition of the race, consisting almost entirely of climbs and descents.
151 kilometers and approximately 5,000 meters of elevation gain, with an relentless sequence of climbs: Passo Duran, Coi, Forcella Staulanza, Passo Giau — the Cima Coppi of the edition at 2,233 meters — and Passo Falzarego, before the final 5 km towards the finish line. The final ascent, on a narrow mountain road with 8 hairpin bends, has an average gradient of around 10% with peaks up to 15%.
The stage was won by Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a Bike) ahead of Derek Gee and Giulio Ciccone. For Alleghe and the entire Agordino region, the arrival of the Giro represented a major popular and sporting event, with fans and enthusiasts crowded along the climbs and at the finish line, in one of the most spectacular mountain settings of the 'corsa rosa'.
The finish of Stage 19 of the 2026 Giro d'Italia at Piani di Pezzè transformed Alleghe into the stage for the toughest leg of the 'corsa rosa'. A day of great cycling through the Dolomite passes, with thousands of fans lining the climbs.
Finish at Piani di Pezzè (Ski Civetta), above Alleghe (Belluno). The location can be reached via the SS203 Agordina.
