The great lake fish feast in San Feliciano, on Lake Trasimeno
The Giacchio Festival - Lake Trasimeno Fish Feast is one of the most characteristic festivals in Umbria, held in San Feliciano, a historic fishing village part of Magione, in the province of Perugia. The name refers to the giacchio, the ancient cone-shaped fishing net used by lake fishermen, a symbol of a centuries-old tradition.
The absolute star is lake fish: royal perch, tench, eel, and queen carp, prepared according to traditional lake recipes, such as grilled royal perch skewers. Alongside the fish, another local treasure: the Trasimeno Fagiolina, a legume protected as a Slow Food presidium. The food stalls of the Pro Loco San Feliciano offer an authentic gastronomic experience that is hard to find elsewhere.
The event is not just about food: the program includes shows, live concerts, exhibitions, and tastings for all ages. The setting is the picturesque lakefront of San Feliciano, where the famous sunsets over Lake Trasimeno provide a backdrop for the evenings. An unmissable opportunity to experience the most authentic side of the lake, away from mass tourism.
The 44th edition of the Giacchio Festival will be held from July 24 to August 2, 2026, in San Feliciano, on the Trasimeno lakefront, after returning to its historic location overlooking the water. Ten days of festivities dedicated to the flavours of the lake, organized by the Pro Loco San Feliciano.
The food stalls will offer the best of lake cuisine: royal perch (also in grilled skewers), tench, eel, and queen carp, along with the Trasimeno Fagiolina beans, a Slow Food presidium. The ten-day program includes shows, live concerts, exhibitions, and tastings for all ages, amidst the famous sunsets over Lake Trasimeno.
