About Gelato Festival

Each year in late spring, the Gelato Festival transforms the Parco al Sarca in Vigo Rendena, a village in the municipality of Porte di Rendena, into a sweet paradise. Organized by the Pro Loco Vigo Rendena, the event brings together master artisanal gelato makers from across Northern Italy, featuring vintage carts, colorful food trucks, children's workshops, the famous ice cream train, live music, and evening barbecue dining. A free event designed for the whole family in the heart of the Trentino Giudicarie region.

The Gelato Festival in Porte di Rendena

Every year, between May and June, the Parco al Sarca in Vigo Rendena fills with color, fragrance, and joy for the Gelato Festival, one of the most beloved gastronomic events in Val Rendena. The event takes place in the municipality of Porte di Rendena, formed by the merger of the villages of Darè, Vigo Rendena, and Villa Rendena, in the heart of the Giudicarie valleys in the autonomous province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige).

A whole weekend dedicated to artisanal gelato

The heart of the festival is artisanal gelato: master makers from various cities in Northern Italy—including Padua, Verona, Trento, Riva del Garda, Rovereto, and Pinzolo—bring the park to life with vintage carts and colorful food trucks, offering creative flavors, high-quality ingredients, and original specialties. Visitors can stroll between stands, enjoy cones and cups, and discover the thousand nuances of a product that symbolizes Italian confectionery tradition.

Activities for families and children

The Gelato Festival is designed as an event for the whole family. Throughout both days, there are games, entertainment, and workshops for children, offering a chance to discover how gelato is made. Among the most popular attractions is the ice cream train ("Ice Cream Train Experience"), which takes adults and children on a ride through the greenery of the park along the Sarca River.

Music, barbecue, and conviviality

The social aspect is not forgotten: in the evenings, the barbecue area opens with savory options, accompanied by live music, karaoke, bingo, and entertainment. Brass bands and live groups take turns on stage, creating a festive and relaxed atmosphere typical of Trentino village festivals.

A free event in the heart of Val Rendena

Admission to the festival is free, and the area is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. The Gelato Festival is the perfect opportunity to combine a trip to Val Rendena—the gateway to the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park and Madonna di Campiglio—with a weekend of taste in one of the most picturesque areas of Western Trentino. The event is organized with passion by the Pro Loco Vigo Rendena.
