The singing competition in Campagnano di Roma featuring covers and original songs
In the heart of the village of Campagnano di Roma, just outside the capital and a stone's throw from the Veio Park, the Funny Festival has become one of the most cherished musical events of the Lazio summer. Each edition turns a local square into a grand open-air stage, where young voices and seasoned singers compete for audience applause and the jury's verdict. Promoted by the Libertà e Partecipazione APS association with the support of the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Campagnano di Roma, and the collaboration of the Pro Loco, the festival is a free-entry event that attracts large crowds every evening.
The Funny Festival is, first and foremost, a singing competition divided into two categories: Under 25, reserved for younger talent, and Over, open to adult singers. Contestants perform covers of famous songs as well as original pieces, putting their interpretation, technique, and stage presence to the test. Selection rounds precede the final, where the best of each category return to the stage to vie for victory before the audience and the jury.
One of the elements that distinguishes the Funny Festival is the live musical accompaniment: the band Dove e Quando plays for every contestant, giving the performances the warmth of a real concert. Performances are evaluated by a large jury, split into a technical panel and a quality panel, ensuring a judgment that considers both vocal skill and emotional delivery. The artistic direction is entrusted to Carlo Ottavianelli, the historic soul of the event.
Born as a small local review, the Funny Festival has grown edition after edition to become one of the best-known singing showcases in central Italy, acting as a launchpad for numerous emerging talents. The evenings are broadcast live on social media channels and YouTube, expanding the audience far beyond the village borders. For many young performers, stepping onto the Campagnano stage represents an important opportunity to get noticed.
Located in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the northern belt bordering the Tuscia region, Campagnano di Roma is a medieval village nestled in a landscape of hills, woods, and ancient farmhouses. The setting of the historic center and its squares makes the Funny Festival not just a musical competition, but also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Lazio, filled with great music, conviviality, and local flavors.
The 23rd edition of the Funny Festival enlivened Piazza Cesare Leonelli, in the historic center of Campagnano di Roma, from June 26 to 28, 2026. Three nights of great live music, featuring the selection rounds for the Under 25 and Over categories and the Sunday finale dedicated to the proclamation of the winners. The free-entry event was promoted by the Libertà e Partecipazione APS association with the support of the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Campagnano di Roma, and the collaboration of the Pro Loco.
