The Fregnacce Festival is one of the most anticipated culinary events of the Campli summer. It takes place in the hamlet of La Traversa, at the crossroads of Campli, a small town in the province of Teramo, nestled in the heart of northern Abruzzo at the foot of the Monti della Laga. Organized by the Associazione La Traversa Insieme, the event celebrates the dish that gives the festival its name and represents an authentic piece of the region's rural heritage.

What are fregnacce?

Fregnacce are a type of hand-rolled pasta, a recipe passed down through generations in local households. This simple, rustic dish is incredibly versatile, pairing perfectly with everything from mixed meat ragù to delicate cacio e pepe or fresh vegetable sauces. This signature dish is the centerpiece of a full menu of Abruzzo specialties that showcase the best of mountain and village cooking.

The flavors of the festival

In addition to the must-try fregnacce, the food stalls offer a complete selection of local Campli products:

• Arrosticini (sheep skewers), the quintessential Abruzzo specialty
