About San Martino Floriano

Every November, Piazza Anfiteatro in Floriano, a village near Campli in the province of Teramo, comes alive for the San Martino Festival. For four nights, the local community celebrates with traditional Abruzzese cuisine served inside a large, heated marquee. White and red polenta with sausage and chestnut ragù, arrosticini, pork ribs, roasted chestnuts, and new wine are paired with live music, ballroom dancing, karaoke, and DJ sets. This popular event, organized by the Pro Loco Floriano, celebrates the saint and the arrival of the cold season with the authentic flavors of the region.

The San Martino Festival in Floriano di Campli

In the heart of the Abruzzo autumn, the San Martino Festival brings the village of Floriano, part of the municipality of Campli in the province of Teramo, to life every November. For four evenings, Piazza Anfiteatro transforms into a warm and convivial gathering spot: a covered, heated marquee hosts food stalls and a music stage, while the village rallies around one of its most anticipated traditions.

A tradition that renews the flavors of the Teramo autumn

In rural culture, St. Martin's Day marks the moment when must becomes wine—hence the saying "at St. Martin's, every must becomes wine"—making new wine the centerpiece of the festival tables. In Floriano, this tradition blends with polenta, the absolute star of the menu, served in white and red versions topped with sausage and chestnut ragù. Alongside the polenta, you will find arrosticini, pork ribs, sausage sandwiches, fries, and the essential roasted chestnuts, the true symbol of this time of year.

Music, conviviality, and community

The event is about more than just food: every evening, a lively entertainment program accompanies dinner, featuring live music, ballroom dancing, karaoke nights, and DJ sets. The atmosphere is that of a genuine Abruzzese village feast, where families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns gather to escape the cold and share hot dishes and good wine.

Organizers

The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Floriano APS, with the support of the Municipality of Campli. In recent years, it has been revitalized into one of the most popular events in the area. Floriano is located just a few kilometers from the historic center of Campli, famous for its Holy Stairs and traditional timballo, making the San Martino Festival a perfect opportunity to discover this corner of the Teramo countryside in its vibrant autumn colors.
