An autumn feast featuring polenta, chestnuts, and new wine in the village of Floriano

In the heart of the Abruzzo autumn, the San Martino Festival brings the village of Floriano, part of the municipality of Campli in the province of Teramo, to life every November. For four evenings, Piazza Anfiteatro transforms into a warm and convivial gathering spot: a covered, heated marquee hosts food stalls and a music stage, while the village rallies around one of its most anticipated traditions.
In rural culture, St. Martin's Day marks the moment when must becomes wine—hence the saying "at St. Martin's, every must becomes wine"—making new wine the centerpiece of the festival tables. In Floriano, this tradition blends with polenta, the absolute star of the menu, served in white and red versions topped with sausage and chestnut ragù. Alongside the polenta, you will find arrosticini, pork ribs, sausage sandwiches, fries, and the essential roasted chestnuts, the true symbol of this time of year.
The event is about more than just food: every evening, a lively entertainment program accompanies dinner, featuring live music, ballroom dancing, karaoke nights, and DJ sets. The atmosphere is that of a genuine Abruzzese village feast, where families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns gather to escape the cold and share hot dishes and good wine.
The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Floriano APS, with the support of the Municipality of Campli. In recent years, it has been revitalized into one of the most popular events in the area. Floriano is located just a few kilometers from the historic center of Campli, famous for its Holy Stairs and traditional timballo, making the San Martino Festival a perfect opportunity to discover this corner of the Teramo countryside in its vibrant autumn colors.
The Pro Loco Floriano APS has not yet announced the official dates for the 2026 edition of the San Martino Festival in Floriano di Campli. Based on previous editions, the event is expected in November in Piazza Anfiteatro, featuring the usual format of food stalls under a heated marquee and live music evenings.
The traditional menu—white and red polenta with sausage and chestnut ragù, arrosticini, pork ribs, and new wine—is expected to return as in previous years. Information will be updated as soon as the Pro Loco publishes the final calendar and program.
