About Fossano in Bici

Fossano in Bici is a major non-competitive charity cycling event that fills the streets of Fossano, in the province of Cuneo, every spring. It is not a race, but a two-wheeled community festival: families, children, and cycling enthusiasts set off together from Piazza Castello for an easy, safe route towards the Maddalene hamlet. Every registration fee is a donation, with proceeds supporting the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research in Candiolo, a partnership spanning over four decades. In 2026, the 43rd edition saw a record-breaking turnout of over 2,000 cyclists.

A tradition of solidarity spanning over forty years

Fossano in Bici is one of the most beloved and iconic events in Fossano, a city in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Launched in the early 1980s, this non-competitive cycling event has spanned over four decades of history, evolving into much more than a simple bike ride: it has become a community staple and, above all, a grand gesture of solidarity. The 2026 edition, the 43rd, set a record with over 2,000 registered cyclists.

Pedaling for Candiolo

The heart of the event is charitable. For over forty years, Fossano in Bici has supported the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research in Candiolo: the entire proceeds from registration fees are donated to the Institute, contributing concretely to cancer research. Over the years, the initiative has raised a total of over 200,000 euros. In recent years, the ride has been dedicated to the memory of Alberto Balocco, a figure closely linked to the local area and the Fossano confectionery industry.

A route for everyone

Fossano in Bici is not a race, but a two-wheeled caravan open to everyone: families, children, cycling enthusiasts, and curious onlookers. The start and finish are located in Piazza Castello, at the foot of the famous Castello degli Acaja, the city's landmark. The route, which is easy and suitable for any type of bicycle, leads participants to the Maddalene hamlet, crossing the countryside and villages of the Fossano area in complete safety. The ride is organized by the SC Ciclistica Fossano Free Bikers with the support of the CRF Foundation - Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano and numerous local sponsors.

Celebrations, prizes, and raffles

Upon returning to Piazza Castello, the day continues in a festive atmosphere with social gatherings, awards for the largest groups, and a rich prize raffle for all registered cyclists, including bicycles donated by sponsors. Each participant receives a race pack and the commemorative t-shirt for the edition. The start is traditionally signaled by the mayor and city authorities, highlighting the event's deep roots in the life of Fossano and the entire province of Cuneo.
