The celebration of cycling and sustainable mobility in the heart of Cuneo
Every year at the end of September, Cuneo transforms into Italy's cycling capital. The Cuneo Bike Festival is the event dedicated by the city to sustainable mobility and cycling culture, bringing Piazza Galimberti and the streets of the historic center to life for several days. Promoted by the Cuneo Mobility Office, the festival aligns with European Mobility Week and was born with a clear goal: to promote the bicycle as a daily choice for health, freedom, and environmental respect.
The strength of the Cuneo Bike Festival lies in its variety. The schedule brings together talks and meetings with champions and figures from the cycling world, group rides for all levels, performances, screenings, workshops, and activities designed for schools. Alongside the sporting events, there is space for reflection on urban mobility and the future of cities, because cycling is also a way to imagine a different way of living.
The festival does not just live during the days in September. Throughout the year, a series of off-events accompanies the anticipation, from Bike to School and Bike to Work initiatives to gravel cycling tours. Among these, La Fausto de Tierra stands out—a non-competitive ride on gravel and asphalt roads in the Gesso-Stura River Park, organized by the ASD Fausto Coppi on the Road, which ideally links to the La Fluviale gravel event hosted during the September festival.
As the capital of its namesake province, nestled at the foot of the Maritime and Cottian Alps, Cuneo is a city with a rational layout and wide spaces, ideal for exploring by bike. The grand Piazza Galimberti, one of the largest in Piedmont, becomes a natural stage for the festival, while the river park and surrounding valleys offer spectacular routes for cyclists of all levels. The Cuneo Bike Festival is thus also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont, blending culture, landscape, and a growing commitment to light mobility.
Now in its several editions, the event has solidified a loyal audience and a recognizable format that successfully combines sport, entertainment, education, and civic engagement. Participating in the Cuneo Bike Festival means joining a community that believes in the bicycle not as a passing trend, but as a concrete choice for the future of our cities.
The sixth edition of the Cuneo Bike Festival will animate Cuneo from September 25 to 27, 2026, immediately following European Mobility Week (September 16-22). Piazza Galimberti returns as the festival headquarters, with the pump track and bike workshop available to the public.
The program spans three days: Friday the 25th features the Run, Bike, Fun event; Saturday the 26th focuses on the gravel world with the La Fluviale ride, in collaboration with ASD Fausto Coppi on the Road, and an evening talk at the Cinema Monviso with a guest from the sports world; Sunday the 27th concludes with a family ride to discover the city. The schedule is completed by meetings, performances, and activities for schools.
The full schedule, including talks, performances, workshops, and school activities, will be published on the official website in the weeks leading up to the event.
Cuneo is well-connected by train (Cuneo station, with lines to Turin, Savona, and Ventimiglia) and by car via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (Fossano exit) or the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway. The heart of the festival, Piazza Galimberti, is located in the city center and is easily reached on foot or by bicycle.
Access to the festival areas in Piazza Galimberti is free. Some sporting and cycling tours (such as gravel events) require paid registration with specific fees; for rides organized by the ASD Fausto Coppi, combined packages are also available. We recommend checking the official website for updated procedures and fees.
Bring your own bicycle and a helmet to participate in the rides. Cuneo offers numerous accommodation options in the center and the nearby valleys, perfect for a weekend combining sport and local discovery.
