Three weekends celebrating biodiversity and biogastronomy in the Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra
Flowers, Herbs and Flavors is the early summer festival involving the Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), along the two valleys crossed by the Avisio stream. For three weekends in June, the territory becomes a true open-air laboratory, where excursions, workshops, and tastings showcase the richness of alpine biodiversity and the culture of biogastronomy. Cavalese, the heart of the Val di Fiemme, is one of the main municipalities hosting the event.
The program takes residents and visitors on a journey through woods, blooming meadows, historic mountain huts, and agricultural landscapes. Events range from botanical excursions led by experts to foraging for wild herbs, and from workshops on medicinal plants to the preparation of natural resins and ointments. There are also visits to the terraces of the Val di Cembra, offering views of the Dolomite peaks, and evening walks that culminate in the symbolic event of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.
The culinary dimension is central. Throughout the festival, restaurants and farmhouses participating in the "Per fare tutto ci vuole un fiore" (To do everything, you need a flower) showcase offer original recipes based on alpine herbs and flowers, paired with local products. Highlights include the Fior di Cavalese saffron cheese from the Caseificio Sociale Val di Fiemme, accompanied by wines, sparkling wines, and grappas from the Val di Cembra, Fiemme beer, and herbal spirits. The festival is supported by partners such as the Strada dei Formaggi delle Dolomiti, the Club Tradizione e Gusto, and the Val di Cembra Tourist Association.
Events are distributed across numerous villages in the two valleys: from workshops on medicinal plants to walks through the meadows, from tours of fields and breweries to aperitifs based on local gin, and themed dinners. Cavalese and its mountain huts, along with municipalities such as Tesero, Predazzo, Daiano, Molina di Fiemme, and the villages of the Val di Cembra, host the various stages, making Flowers, Herbs and Flavors a traveling event that unites nature, tradition, and mountain flavors.
From June 5 to 21, 2026, the Flowers, Herbs and Flavors festival enlivened the Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra with three weekends of widespread events. The program alternated between nature workshops, excursions, and gastronomic experiences in numerous municipalities of the two valleys.
Throughout the duration, restaurants and farmhouses of the "Per fare tutto ci vuole un fiore" showcase proposed menus based on alpine herbs and flowers, highlighting products such as the Fior di Cavalese saffron cheese, Dolomite cheeses, honey, and spirits from the Val di Cembra.
Cavalese can be reached by car via the A22 Brenner motorway, taking the Ora/Egna exit and following signs for Val di Fiemme. By train, the reference station is Ora (Auer), which is connected to Cavalese by bus lines. The festival stages are spread across the municipalities of the Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra.
Many activities require booking and have costs that vary depending on the experience. For the full program, schedules, and prices, it is recommended to contact the tourist office at +39 0462 241111 or visit the website visitfiemme.it.
