A century of music in Piazza Statuto, Settimo Vittone
The Filarmonica Vittoria of Settimo Vittone, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin nestled at the gateway to the Aosta Valley, reached a milestone in 2026 that few musical associations ever achieve: its first centenary. Founded in 1926, the band has accompanied a century of local history, performing at festivals and civil and religious commemorations. Its first president was the renowned organist Pietro Alessandro Yon, a figure deeply connected to the Canavese area.
To mark its 100th anniversary, the Philharmonic chose its most beloved event: the summer concert in Piazza Statuto, which in 2026 became a true community celebration. The sixty musicians of the ensemble, conducted by Maestro Dino Domatti, took the stage and opened the evening with the commemorative piece, 'Centennial'.
The centenary edition was made unique by the presence of an international guest: the Orchestre d'Harmonie de Megève, a French wind ensemble conducted by Yannick Vandini, arriving from the nearby Upper Savoy. A musical twinning that united both sides of the Alps in an evening of grand resonance.
The spotlight also shone on the new generation with the youth group 'Quattro Quarti', also conducted by Maestro Domatti, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2026. The group brings together young musicians from Settimo Vittone and neighboring towns—Quincinetto, Tavagnasco, and Quassolo—testifying to the vitality of the band tradition in the Canavese and throughout Piedmont.
The summer concert has always been the highlight of the Filarmonica Vittoria's season, which throughout the year also accompanies the patronal feast, the feast of Saint Cecilia (patron saint of musicians), and the traditional Christmas concert. Attending the concert in Piazza Statuto means immersing yourself in the authentic village life of this corner of Piedmont, where the band remains a vital social and cultural anchor.
For its 100th anniversary, the Filarmonica Vittoria organized a special edition of its summer concert in Piazza Statuto, which was transformed into a grand community celebration. Alongside the local ensemble and the youth group 'Quattro Quarti', a French wind band from Savoy performed, marking a musical twinning between the Italian and French Alps.
