The walking theatre arrives in Bollengo

There is a different way to host a festival: instead of waiting for the audience, the artists hit the road. This is the philosophy driving Scavalcamontagne, a musical theatre company that has spent years transforming Piedmont's trails and squares into open-air stages. The performers travel on foot, with backpacks, from one village to another: they hike the trails in the morning, explore their host villages in the afternoon, and take the stage in the squares at night.

As part of the "In Cammino 2026" tour, the show "Ricette e Sinfonie" stops in Bollengo, in the Canavese area of the Province of Turin. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 9:00 PM, in the Town Hall Salon on Piazza Statuto. This date is part of the leg dedicated to the Comunità Collinare Unione della Serra, along the Via Francigena, which also visits Chiaverano, Burolo, and Albiano d'Ivrea between June 18 and 21.

What is "Ricette e Sinfonie"?

"Ricette e Sinfonie" is one of the "evergreen" shows in the Scavalcamontagne repertoire: a theatrical journey that weaves together tales, live music, and food culture. The performance guides the audience through a path of stories, melodies, and gastronomic traditions, celebrating community memory and the heritage of ancient recipes through a contemporary and engaging artistic language. It is a way to tell the story of the territory and its roots, combining the voices, music, and flavors that have shaped our villages.

The artists and the company

The Scavalcamontagne project was born from the vision of Irene Geninatti Chiolero, an opera soprano and actress, and Danilo Ramon Giannini, an actor, singer, and performer, supported by a cast of professional artists. The production is managed by Teatro della Caduta and Torino Open Lab, with the support of the Piedmont Region and foundations such as Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione CRT. Their philosophy is simple yet radical: to bring high-quality theatre from small villages to high-altitude mountain huts, keeping culture accessible to everyone.

A free, open-air event

Like all Scavalcamontagne stops, the evening in Bollengo is free to attend, using the "pass-the-hat" formula: a pact with the audience to directly support the artists' work. In case of rain, the show will be held indoors at the Town Hall Salon. For those who want to fully experience the journey, the day can begin with a hike alongside the company along the trails of the Serra Morenica.
