About Carema Incontra

Carema Incontra is a cultural festival promoted by the Municipality of Carema, a small village in the Upper Canavese region on the border with the Aosta Valley, in the province of Turin. Every Thursday evening from May 21st to June 18th, the Sala San Matteo hosts five free events focusing on culture and current affairs: book presentations, film screenings, local research, and moments of shared memory. An intimate and high-quality program that brings voices, stories, and reflections to the village, enlivening the spring evenings of the Carema community.

Carema Incontra: culture and current affairs in the Upper Canavese

Carema Incontra is a cultural festival organized by the Municipality of Carema, a town in the Metropolitan City of Turin located at the northern tip of Piedmont, bordering the Aosta Valley. In a village famous for its terraced vineyards and the renowned Carema DOC wine, the festival offers five in-depth evenings open to everyone, designed to bring residents closer to reading, cinema, and current events.

Five events, every Thursday

The festival consists of five meetings held every Thursday evening at 9:00 PM, from May 21st to June 18th, at the Sala San Matteo in Carema. Admission is free: a choice that reaffirms the festival's vocation as a cultural service aimed at the entire community and the neighboring towns of the Canavese area.

The program

The events range across different genres and languages, from territorial research to investigative documentaries and local history:

  • Crimini in Canavese โ€” an evening dedicated to investigations set in the Canavese territory, featuring the inquiries of Vice-Prefect Veyrat.
  • Food for Profit โ€” a screening of the investigative documentary by Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo D'Ambrosi on factory farming and the economic interests linked to the food supply chain.
  • Poesie e ricordi โ€” a meeting dedicated to the figure of Don Igino Boglia, featuring verses and testimonies of local memory.

The evenings alternate between speakers, authors, and screenings, creating a varied program that weaves together culture, current events, and the identity of the territory.

A village between wine and mountains

Nestled on the slope facing the Aosta Valley, Carema is one of the most characteristic towns in the Upper Canavese, known for its pergolas and dry-stone walls that shape the viticultural landscape. Participating in Carema Incontra also means discovering an authentic corner of Piedmont, where the intimate size of the village makes every evening an opportunity for real encounters between people, stories, and ideas.

Information

The festival is promoted and organized by the Municipality of Carema. For details on the program and individual events, you can contact the municipal offices or visit the Municipality's official website.
