Three days of festivities on the shores of Lake Alice Superiore in Valchiusella
The Lake Festival is one of the most anticipated summer events in Valchiusella, the alpine valley nestled behind Ivrea in the heart of the Canavese region. It takes place on the shores of the enchanting Lake Alice Superiore, a small natural basin set among the woods that gives its name to the hamlet in the municipality of Val di Chy, in the Province of Turin, Piedmont. For three days, typically during the last weekend of June, the lake and its village become the stage for a genuine and engaging community celebration.
The program highlights the natural environment of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Recurring activities include kayaking and canoeing on the water, horseback riding and equestrian activities managed by local operators, as well as guided walks along the valley's trails. Special attention is given to inclusivity: in past editions, the event has offered activities accessible to people with disabilities and the visually impaired, from canoeing to hiking, thanks to collaborations with local associations.
The convivial heart of the festival is the field kitchen, featuring a pavilion that serves Valchiusella specialties: traditional dishes, local products, and tastings of regional flavors. Gastronomic evenings are a staple, ranging from fish-based dinners to menus featuring wild herbs and porcini mushrooms, all accompanied by live music from local bands, groups, and duos. Sundays are often enlivened by the lake market, showcasing local crafts and producers.
The Lake Festival is organized by the Pro Loco Val di Chy APS in collaboration with the municipal administration and various valley associations. More than just an event, it is an opportunity for the community to gather and for visitors to discover an authentic corner of the Canavese, where the mountains meet the water. The setting of Lake Alice Superiore, with its tranquil waters and surrounding woods, makes the festival perfect for families, hikers, and nature lovers seeking a summer escape far from mass tourism.
The 2026 Lake Festival returns to Val di Chy from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, 2026, on the shores of Lake Alice Superiore, in Valchiusella (Province of Turin). The dates are confirmed by the Municipality of Val di Chy.
Following the success of previous editions, the event will offer lake activities such as kayaking and canoeing, horseback riding, guided hikes, tastings of Valchiusella products, and evenings with field kitchen dining and live music. The detailed program, including times and specific appointments, will be published by the organizers closer to the event: we recommend checking the channels of the Pro Loco Val di Chy and the Municipality for updates.
Lake Alice Superiore is located in the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Val di Chy, in Valchiusella. By car, it can be reached from Ivrea by traveling up the valley (about 20 km); the nearest motorway exit is Ivrea on the A5 Turin-Aosta. By train, the reference station is Ivrea, from which you can continue using local transport services to Valchiusella.
The festival usually takes place in late June, spanning three days (Friday to Sunday).
Access to the festival areas is free; some activities and the field kitchen dining services require payment. For up-to-date information on the program and reservations, it is recommended to contact the Pro Loco Val di Chy or the municipality.
