The Ampezzo Community Day
The Cortina Local Festival is one of the most cherished days of summer in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the province of Belluno. It's the festival that brings together the local community and visitors in the historic center of the town, in a climate of authentic Ampezzo conviviality.
Market, Stalls, and Traditions
From the morning, the streets of the center — Corso Italia in particular — come alive with stalls and stands offering clothing and various goods. The day thus becomes an opportunity for a stroll and a meeting point for the entire Ampezzo valley.
Challenges Between the Six Districts
The heart of the festival arrives in the afternoon, with the challenges between the six districts of Cortina: Alverà, Azzon, Cadin, Chiave, Cortina, and Zuel. The teams compete for the running palio, open to all ages and genders, the tug-of-war, and the segagno, the exciting log-cutting race. These are traditions deeply rooted in Ampezzo culture that, each year, renew the sense of belonging to the districts, the ancient communities that have managed the territory of the Cortina basin for centuries, in the heart of the UNESCO Dolomites.

The Cortina Local Festival 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, in the historic center of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The day celebrates the Ampezzo community with a market, traditions, and challenges between the districts.
After the morning market, the afternoon is dedicated to the races between the six districts — Alverà, Azzon, Cadin, Chiave, Cortina, and Zuel — featuring the running palio, tug-of-war, and segagno (log cutting).
