A week of culture, music, and theatre in the Aegadian Islands
FestivalFlorio is the leading cultural event in the Aegadian archipelago, located in the municipality of Favignana, in the province of Trapani, at the far west of Sicily. Established in 2012 with the aim of extending the tourist season and celebrating the islands' unique identity, the festival brings a week of music, theatre, literature, and gastronomy to Favignana and its sister islands, Marettimo and Levanzo, turning the archipelago into a vast, open-air stage.
Events take place in some of the island's most evocative locations: the historic Ex Stabilimento Florio, the ancient tuna fishery that gives the event its name, as well as the Camparia, Lido Radangia, the Magneva Beach Bar, the Mangia's village amphitheatre, and the Marina di Favignana. Events are also hosted in the church of Levanzo and in the intimate settings of Marettimo, highlighting the choral vocation of the entire archipelago.
The artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Giuseppe Scorzelli, the historic soul of the project. Promoted by the Kymbala Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Favignana, FestivalFlorio has been awarded the EFFE Label for the 2026-2027 biennium, the European quality mark that distinguishes the continent's excellent festivals.
The programme alternates between classical and contemporary music concerts, piano recitals, theatrical performances, readings, meetings with writers and journalists, music and Sicilian cooking masterclasses, and tastings of local products, from the Cantine Florio to Trapani specialties. Traditionally, the festival presents the Premio Favignana, awarded each year to figures in theatre, journalism, or culture.
Almost all FestivalFlorio events are free to attend, with the exception of limited-capacity masterclasses. The festival represents a defining moment for the Aegadian community and a precious opportunity for those visiting Favignana and Western Sicily to experience the island beyond its beach-holiday dimension, immersed in culture, history, and the sea.
The 2026 edition of FestivalFlorio brings Favignana and the Aegadian archipelago to life from June 28 to July 5, with a programme that weaves together music, theatre, literature, and gastronomy in iconic locations such as the Ex Stabilimento Florio, the Camparia, Lido Radangia, and the Marina di Favignana, with additional events in Marettimo and Levanzo.
The festival opens on Sunday, June 28, with the presentation of the Favignana Theatre Prize to actor Leo Gullotta. The following days feature piano recitals, classical and contemporary music concerts, theatrical performances, and readings, including Carlotta Proietti's tribute to her father Gigi and a story dedicated to Ennio Morricone. There is also space for music and Sicilian cooking masterclasses, as well as tastings from Cantine Florio.
The closing is entrusted on Sunday, July 5, to pianist and composer Giovanni Allevi, with the concert "Invisible Harmonies." The 2026 edition is awarded the European EFFE Label and confirms the free admission policy for almost all events.
