Estate Petrosilena – Of Sea and Wine

Petrosino's summer, between the sea and the vineyards

"Estate Petrosilena – Of Sea and Wine" is the summer event series organized by the Municipality of Petrosino, a small town in the province of Trapani overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, in the heart of western Sicily. Every year, from July until the end of August, the town's coastline and squares transform into a large open-air stage with dozens of free events, created in collaboration with local associations.

A program for all generations

The festival is presented as "a summer for everyone, inclusive and designed for every generation." The program blends different genres and audiences:

• Concerts and musical evenings featuring local artists;
• Cabaret and dialect comedies, an important part of the Sicilian comedic tradition;
• Children's shows, workshops, and intergenerational games;
• Popular food festivals and food and wine events;
• Theater, entertainment, and cultural moments.

Wine as a protagonist: "Vino Vivo"

As the name of the festival suggests, wine is a central theme. The "Vino Vivo" format dedicates two days to wine culture with tastings, masterclasses, talks, and music, in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association. It is a tribute to the winemaking vocation of Petrosino and the entire Marsala area, a land of vineyards and historic wineries.

The sea as a backdrop

Most of the events take place on the Biscione Coastline, along Via Lungomare Biscione, with the sunset over the sea providing a backdrop for the evening shows. It is no coincidence that the festival opens and closes with the sea and sunset in mind, featuring events like the "Io Incanto" singing competition at the start and the "Un Click al Tramonto" photo contest at the end.

A local project

The initiative is promoted by the municipal administration of Petrosino with the support of the Sicilian Region and the participation of numerous local associations. For the most recent edition, the Municipality published a public notice to collect social, cultural, charitable, sporting, recreational, and artistic proposals, in order to build a "shared summer calendar" together with the community. This is the hallmark of "Of Sea and Wine": a summer made by the town and for the town, in the province of Trapani.
