About Fest'Estate Perriere

Fest'Estate is the annual summer festival that brings the amphitheater of the Sanctuary of Santo Padre delle Perriere in Marsala's Sant'Anna district to life every July. Organized by the Parish of San Francesco di Paola, it blends popular devotion with cabaret, local dialect theater, concerts, and a different food festival each night featuring specialties like sfingi, arancine, and cannoli. Admission to the amphitheater is free, and the event concludes with a procession of the Patron Saint's statue and a fireworks display.

A neighborhood festival rooted in tradition

Fest'Estate is the summer highlight that transforms the amphitheater of the Sanctuary of Santo Padre delle Perriere into an open-air stage for the community of Marsala, in the province of Trapani. The event is organized by the Parish of San Francesco di Paola, located in the Sant'Anna district, an area historically tied to the popular devotion to the Santo Padre delle Perriere.

More than just a food festival, Fest'Estate is a community celebration that weaves together religious observance and social gathering: evening Eucharistic celebrations, the Rosary, and adoration are complemented by nights of pure entertainment, designed for families, children, and the entire neighborhood that gathers at the foot of the sanctuary, evening after evening.

Shows, cabaret, and dialect theater

The program alternates between different genres to satisfy every audience. Evenings feature concerts, cabaret shows with Sicilian comedians, summer prize raffles, and the highly anticipated dialect theaterโ€”one of Western Sicily's most beloved traditions, capable of drawing entire families to the amphitheater's stands. These vernacular performances, staged by local amateur companies, humorously recount the lives and characters of the Marsala territory.

A different food festival every night

The delicious heart of Fest'Estate is the food festival that accompanies each evening, with a different specialty offered at the stands: sfingi, arancine, and the essential Sicilian cannolo. It is the perfect opportunity to savor traditional local pastries and street food while enjoying the show, in the lively atmosphere typical of the warm summer nights in the Marsala countryside.

Devotion and grand finale

The event retains a strong religious character: the sanctuary, linked to the cult of San Francesco di Paola and the figure of the Santo Padre delle Perriere, has been a destination for pilgrimage and devotion for the people of Marsala for centuries. Fest'Estate culminates with the procession of the Patron Saint's statue through the streets of the Sant'Anna district, followed by a prize draw and a fireworks display that lights up the Marsala sky, bringing the festival to a spectacular close.

Marsala and its territory

Set in one of Sicily's largest municipalities, famous for its fortified wine, salt pans, and the Stagnone lagoon, Fest'Estate offers an authentic window into neighborhood life in Marsala, far from the tourist circuits and close to the heart of the local community.
