About Focaccia Festival
The capital of focaccia with cheese
Recco, a town in the Golfo Paradiso in the province of Genoa, is universally recognized as the homeland of Focaccia col Formaggio, an IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) product: two very thin layers of unleavened dough enclosing fresh cheese, baked at high temperature. The Focaccia Festival celebrates this excellence with two days of tastings and events throughout the town center.
Free Distributions and Contests
The heart of the festival are the free distributions in the historic bakeries of the town — Moltedo G.B., Moltedo 1870, Tossini — and at the Consortium: in the morning, plain and onion focaccia, and in the afternoon, the famous focaccia with IGP cheese. There are also gastronomic contests, such as the "Scianka" (eating 300 grams of focaccia quickly) and the "No Limits Challenge" for pairs, with registrations in Piazza Nicoloso.
Music, Markets, and Children
The festival is enlivened by the G. Rossini Philharmonic Band, DJ sets, and ballroom orchestras, children's shows by Teatro Scalzo, and markets along the town's streets. An event that combines Recco's great gastronomic tradition with fun for all ages, just a short walk from the seafront.
Focaccia Festival — edition 2026
For 2026, the Focaccia Festival takes place on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24. Saturday is dedicated to children's activities and culinary workshops; Sunday kicks off at 10 AM with free focaccia distributions, gastronomic contests, and musical performances in the squares and streets of the town center.
