The great summer festival of Friuli, since 1961
Few festivals in Italy can boast the history of the Festival di Majano. Born in 1961, it has spanned the decades as one of the most beloved and long-running summer events in Friuli Venezia Giulia: in 2026, it will reach its 66th edition. Organized by Pro Majano with the support of the Region and the Municipality of Majano, it is much more than a concert series: it is a great community celebration that for over three weeks transforms this town in the foothills of Udine into the beating heart of the regional summer.
The winning formula, honed over sixty years, combines three souls: music, with major Italian and international names on the main stage and many free admission events on the secondary stage; food and wine, with stands showcasing the flavours of Friuli; and the popular festival dimension, with exhibitions, sports, and cultural events for all ages.
The Festival di Majano has hosted generations of artists on its stage, from great singer-songwriters to the rap of new generations, from international rock to dance music, as well as classical and symphonic music. Alongside paid concerts, a rich free programme with tribute bands, dance nights, and local groups enlivens the festival area every evening.
In 2026, the year of the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake, the festival further links its identity to the memory of the territory: the opening night celebrates the Friulian rebirth with a grand symphonic-choral event. This is a sign of an event that, while looking at the big names on the national scene, never forgets that it is a child of its land.
Majano is a municipality in the province of Udine, in the hilly area west of the provincial capital, near the Tagliamento river and a few kilometres from San Daniele del Friuli. Its festival grounds, equipped to accommodate large numbers, are the natural stage for a festival that has become a benchmark for the entire Northeast over the years.
The 66th edition confirms the festival's great tradition, intertwining music, memory, and the flavours of Friuli. The opening concert on July 25th, 'Bolero Carmina Burana' with over 200 musicians and choristers conducted by Maestro Giacomo Loprieno, is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the 1976 earthquake. Preceding the festival, the preview event 'Sunset in the Castle' will be held at the Castle of Udine on May 30th with DJ Bob Sinclar.
Tickets for the main stage are available on the Ticketone circuit. Info: www.promajano.it.
