The Ferragosto festival of the village of Artegna
Every summer, around the Ferragosto holiday, the village of Artegna — at the foot of the Julian Prealps, in the heart of Friuli — transforms into the beating heart of the celebration with Ferragosto Arteniese. Organized by the Pro Loco Artegna, it is one of the longest-running and most popular village festivals in the area, capable of drawing hundreds of people every evening for good food, music, and shows.
The event spans a week of evenings, each with a different menu: from tomahawk to wiener schnitzel, from spit-roasted chicken to roast ham, the Pro Loco's kitchens offer a different specialty each day. The food stalls generally open around 6:30 PM, and from then on, the party continues until late.
The music program is the true common thread of the festival: every evening a different group takes the stage, from cover bands to Irish folk repertoires, from ballroom music to DJ sets. There is also attention to the little ones, with magic shows, creative workshops, baby dance, face painting, and bubble shows. It is a festival designed for families, where different generations come together.
More than just a simple sagra (local festival), Ferragosto Arteniese is an event of identity for Artegna and for the entire Friulian foothills area: a moment when the community comes together, supported by the volunteer work of the Pro Loco, to experience the heart of summer together.
For 2026, Ferragosto Arteniese will return to Artegna in the week straddling August 15th, as per tradition. The Pro Loco Artegna will reprise the proven formula: a week of evenings with a different menu each day, live music, magic shows, and activities for children.
The exact dates have not yet been confirmed: in recent editions, the festival has spanned about a week, from the first days of August until the 16th.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced in the coming weeks. Based on recent editions, each evening includes:
