FestambienteSud, Legambiente's festival in the Gargano

FestambienteSud is Legambiente's international festival for the South, a traveling event that for over twenty years has intertwined music, the environment, and the local territory across the villages of the Gargano promontory and, as of 2026, the Itria Valley. Now in its 22nd edition, the festival unfolds along an entire narrative itinerary that in 2026 runs from July 10th to August 3rd, transforming landscapes, stories, and communities into one great collective tale. The theme of the 2026 edition, "Desert, Oasis, and Caravans - at the Climate's Edge", is the second chapter of the "Out of Africa" triennium, dedicated to Saharan Africa, climate boundaries, and the meeting of Mediterranean cultures.

The Vico del Gargano stop

In Vico del Gargano, one of Italy's most beautiful villages perched between the Foresta Umbra and the coast, the stop lasts three days, from July 31st to August 3rd. The historic center, with its medieval alleys and squares overlooking the Gargano, becomes a widespread stage: forums and social debates on Via Castello, social theater, poetry and literature reviews, urban trekking through the village lanes, and evening concerts featuring great voices of African and Mediterranean music in Largo San Domenico. Most afternoon and evening events are free of charge.

Music and cultures from the desert to the oasis

The musical heart of the Vico stop looks toward the Sahara and West Africa: from the Moroccan master of Gnawa tradition Majid Bekkas to the Mauritanian voice Noura Mint Seymali, and Daby Touré, another major name in Mauritanian music. The festival's grand finale on August 3rd is entrusted to Niccolò Fabi, performing in the evocative setting of the Convento dei Cappuccini and its monumental oak tree, one of the iconic landmarks of Vico del Gargano.

FestambienteFood and the quality market

Alongside the music, the festival brings FestambienteFood to Vico del Gargano, a project dedicated to sustainable, high-quality food: a quality food market comes to life in the historic center, featuring typical products from the Gargano and Puglia, while guided treks lead visitors to discover the Foresta Umbra, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the promontory's landscape.

A festival for the territory

Organized by Legambiente in the Municipality of Vico del Gargano, in the Province of Foggia and the heart of the Gargano Puglia, FestambienteSud is much more than a series of concerts: it is a laboratory of environmental culture, hospitality, and dialogue between peoples, capable of combining great live entertainment with reflection on climate, agriculture, and sustainability issues.
