The patronal festival of Olmetto

The Festa ëd San Giors is the most anticipated event of the year for the Olmetto hamlet, a small village in the municipality of Bagnolo Piemonte, nestled at the foot of Monte Bracco in the province of Cuneo. The name, in the Piedmontese dialect, refers to Saint George the Martyr, the community's patron saint: for generations, a popular festival blending devotion, tradition, and community spirit has revolved around his figure.

The event, in its current form, was reborn in 1979 after a long period of inactivity. Since then, the Amici di San Giors association has organized it every spring, transforming Via Olmetto and the festival marquee into the beating heart of the hamlet for a few days.

Four days of music, sport, and gastronomy

The program spans four days, usually coinciding with the last weekend of April, and offers a proven mix of entertainment for all ages:

• Live music and DJ sets every evening under the marquee, featuring dance parties and hits;
• Latin American dancing and ballroom evenings, the true soul of Piedmontese festival tradition;
• Sporting events, most notably the Corsa di San Giors, a 7 km non-competitive fun run, and mountain bike and e-bike gatherings along the roads and trails of the hills;
• Gastronomy with a kitchen under the marquee, serving everything from grilled meats to local specialties;
• Children's entertainment and tournaments involving the entire village.

Over the years, the festival has also hosted unique and identity-focused gatherings, such as the Ape Rally and quad bike meets, which have attracted enthusiasts from all over the region.

A tradition that builds community

More than just an event, the Festa ëd San Giors is a moment of collective identity for Olmetto and Bagnolo Piemonte. It is the occasion when the hamlet comes together, welcomes visitors from neighboring villages, and keeps alive a tradition with roots dating back to the early 20th century, as evidenced by old photographs preserved by the community.
