The patronal festival of Savorgnano, between faith and rural tradition
The Festa di Santa Petronilla is the patronal festival of Savorgnano, a hamlet in the Municipality of San Vito al Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone. It takes place at the end of May, around the saint's feast day, and celebrates Saint Petronilla, the patron saint of the village to whom the historic village church is also dedicated.
It is one of those rural festivals where the religious and popular dimensions naturally intertwine: religious services in honor of the patron saint are complemented by food stalls, music, and gathering moments that liven up the small community for a few days.
The absolute star is Friulian cuisine, served at the festival stalls. Among the most requested specialties are pasticcio (a baked dish), snails, ribs, sausage, and grilled chicken, accompanied by a well-stocked wine bar with local wines. Simple and genuine dishes, expressions of a still-living peasant tradition.
One of the village's treasures is precisely the Church of Saint Petronilla, a small gem of art and devotion that becomes a destination for guided tours during the festival, curated over the years also by the FAI - San Vito al Tagliamento Group. An opportunity to discover a often hidden heritage deeply linked to the village's identity.
Savorgnano is located in the western Friuli countryside, in the territory of San Vito al Tagliamento, an elegant art town with its square, towers, and historic palaces. The Festa di Santa Petronilla is the best way to experience the most authentic and rural side of this corner of the province, where the festival remains an identity-building and heartfelt event.
The 2026 edition of the Festa di Santa Petronilla takes place straddling the end of May and the beginning of June, in the hamlet of Savorgnano. The patronal festival re-proposes its traditional formula, with religious celebrations in honor of the saint, food stalls, and moments of conviviality around the village church.
On the menu are again Friulian specialties โ pasticcio, snails, ribs, sausage, and grilled chicken โ accompanied by the wine bar with regional wines. Guided tours of the historic Church of Saint Petronilla are also planned.
The festival is concentrated at the end of May, around the patron saint's feast day. The detailed program with dates and times for the evenings and religious services is traditionally released in the weeks prior. The events that characterize each edition:
