About Battifollo Polenta Festival

Every Ferragosto (mid-August), Battifollo, a small village in the Mongia Valley in the province of Cuneo, gathers for its traditional Polenta Festival. Organized by the local Pro Loco, this day of nature, sport, and conviviality combines mountain bike and e-bike excursions, workshops for children, and a grand dinner featuring polenta served with the most authentic flavors of the Langhe and the Cuneo Apennines. A simple, genuine event that captures the welcoming spirit of a village with just over 270 residents.

A Ferragosto tradition in the Mongia Valley

The Ferragosto Polenta Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Battifollo, a tiny municipality of just over 270 inhabitants perched at an altitude of 846 meters in the Mongia Valley, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Organized by the Battifollo Pro Loco, the event transforms the village into a meeting point for valley residents and the many vacationers who choose these hills between the Langhe and the Ligurian-Piedmontese Apennines to spend their mid-summer break.

More than just polenta: nature, sport, and children

What makes this festival special is its nature as a full-day event, capable of bringing together different generations and passions. The sports program is curated in collaboration with local mountain bike experts: recreational and touring routes, including those for special bikes and e-bikes, allow visitors to discover the woods and dirt roads surrounding the village.

In the afternoon, there is plenty of space for children, with activities and workshops designed to introduce them to nature, the world of bees, and the valley's agro-ecosystem. There is no shortage of classic children's games, which have always been a staple of the village festival.

The grand polenta dinner

The highlight remains the evening dinner, when polenta is served in its most beloved versions: with cheese sauce or sausage sauce, accompanied by cured meats, French fries, and the traditional bunet to round off the meal. A menu designed with families in mind, including a special option for children.

A village to discover

Visiting Battifollo during the Polenta Festival also means discovering an authentic corner of the province of Cuneo, a historic transit point on the "salt road" between Piedmont and Liguria. The festival is the perfect opportunity to combine an outdoor trip, a bike ride through the woods, and the genuineness of Piedmontese mountain cuisine.
