The polenta celebration in the heart of the Mongia Valley
The Ferragosto Polenta Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Battifollo, a tiny municipality of just over 270 inhabitants perched at an altitude of 846 meters in the Mongia Valley, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Organized by the Battifollo Pro Loco, the event transforms the village into a meeting point for valley residents and the many vacationers who choose these hills between the Langhe and the Ligurian-Piedmontese Apennines to spend their mid-summer break.
What makes this festival special is its nature as a full-day event, capable of bringing together different generations and passions. The sports program is curated in collaboration with local mountain bike experts: recreational and touring routes, including those for special bikes and e-bikes, allow visitors to discover the woods and dirt roads surrounding the village.
In the afternoon, there is plenty of space for children, with activities and workshops designed to introduce them to nature, the world of bees, and the valley's agro-ecosystem. There is no shortage of classic children's games, which have always been a staple of the village festival.
The highlight remains the evening dinner, when polenta is served in its most beloved versions: with cheese sauce or sausage sauce, accompanied by cured meats, French fries, and the traditional bunet to round off the meal. A menu designed with families in mind, including a special option for children.
Visiting Battifollo during the Polenta Festival also means discovering an authentic corner of the province of Cuneo, a historic transit point on the "salt road" between Piedmont and Liguria. The festival is the perfect opportunity to combine an outdoor trip, a bike ride through the woods, and the genuineness of Piedmontese mountain cuisine.
The 2026 edition of the Ferragosto Polenta Festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Battifollo, in the Mongia Valley. The Pro Loco has announced the return of the classic polenta dinner with children's games, upholding the spirit of the event that combines outdoor activities and conviviality.
Following the trend of previous editions, the day is expected to feature mountain bike and e-bike routes, moments dedicated to children, and the grand evening polenta dinner. The full program with times and menu will be published by the Battifollo Pro Loco on their official channels closer to the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Battifollo Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to Ferragosto. The classic polenta dinner with children's games is confirmed. Based on the usual structure of the festival, mountain bike and e-bike activities are expected throughout the day, along with workshops for children in the afternoon and the evening polenta dinner.
Battifollo is located in the Mongia Valley, in the province of Cuneo, about 35 km from Cuneo and 90 km from Turin. By car, it can be reached from the Ceva motorway exit (A6 Turin-Savona), continuing towards the valley. The nearest train station is in Ceva.
The meeting point and dinner are held at the Pro Loco headquarters, at Via Maestra 38/b. Cycling activities start from the village towards the surrounding trails and dirt roads.
