The local merchants' street market in the historic center of Ceva
The Desbarasuma is one of the most anticipated events of the Ceva summer: a day when the historic center of Ceva, in the heart of the Cebano region and the Province of Cuneo, dresses up for the occasion and local shops literally spill out onto the streets. The name itself, in the Piedmontese dialect, evokes the idea of "clearing out" or making space: merchants offer their goods with special deals, creating a large market spread across the streets and squares.
Organized by Ascom Ceva, the local merchants' association, Desbarasuma is much more than just an opportunity to shop at discounted prices. Along the streets of the center, you will find stalls selling clothing, footwear, jewelry, home decor, eyewear, flowers, perfumes, and much more, but the atmosphere is that of a true town festival, designed for families and those who love enjoying the city outdoors.
Throughout the day, the center comes alive with live music and DJ sets spread across the Duomo area, Via Roma, and Via Barberis. There is no shortage of entertainment for the little ones: street games, face painting, creative workshops, and bubble shows turn the squares into a large open-air playground.
The street food deserves a special mention: among the gastronomic stalls, you can taste local specialties such as ravioli, Piedmontese appetizers, sandwiches with toma cheese, porchetta, bruschetta, focaccia, and much more, in a culinary journey that lasts from morning until evening.
Desbarasuma represents one of the highlights of the Ceva summer calendar and ideally serves as a prelude to the city's signature event, the Mushroom Exhibition of Ceva, which draws food enthusiasts from all over Piedmont in the autumn. A day to be enjoyed by strolling calmly through the streets of the center, among purchases, good music, and authentic flavors.
The date for the 2026 edition has already been set: Saturday, August 22, 2026. The historic center of Ceva will once again transform into a large open-air market, with local shops taking center stage amidst special offers, music, and entertainment.
The detailed program (schedules, musical stations, children's activities, and gastronomic offerings) will be announced by Ascom Ceva in the weeks leading up to the event. For updates, it is advisable to follow the official channels of the merchants' association and the Municipality of Ceva.
