The floral rebirth of the villages of Garessio, in the heart of the Tanaro Valley
Garessio in Bloom marks the return of a cherished event that had not been organized for over two decades. In 2026, the initiative is reborn with a renewed spirit while maintaining its traditional roots: transforming the entire town into a sprawling garden, the result of a synergy between residents, local merchants, and the municipal administration of Garessio, located in the heart of the Tanaro Valley in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont.
The project involves the town's four historic areas, which are blossoming in countless spots thanks to the tireless work of volunteers:
Day after day, dozens of volunteers bring color, life, and pride back to the town center. The floral arrangements favor perennial plants, particularly geraniums, chosen for their durability and long-term sustainability.
At the heart of the initiative is the "Most Beautiful Floral Area" competition, dedicated to the botanical creativity of those who wish to decorate balconies, windowsills, flowerbeds, or small private corners visible from the streets. Entries are collected at the Town Hall, and the most evocative and well-tended displays are awarded in a spirit of friendly competition among the districts.
A precious detail links the event to a great name in global design: the official logo of Garessio in Bloom was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the famous designer born in Garessio, as a symbolic gesture of affection for his hometown.
The initiative is supported by a total grant of 19,000 euros obtained by the Municipality through contributions from the Fondazione CRT and the Compagnia di San Paolo. These funds allowed for the purchase of flowers and materials from local suppliers, while expert firms took care of the beautification of strategic points in the town.
After a spring and summer of floral displays, workshops, and exhibitions, the event culminates on the weekend of August 29-30, 2026, with celebratory events and community gatherings spread throughout the districts. It is an opportunity to discover Garessio in its most colorful guise and to experience the authentic spirit of a Tanaro Valley village that is blooming once again.
After more than twenty years, Garessio in Bloom returns to color the districts of Ponte, Poggiolo, Maggiore, and Valsorda. The official logo is signed by local designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, while a grant of 19,000 euros from Fondazione CRT and Compagnia di San Paolo supports the purchase of flowers and materials.
The initiative unfolds throughout the spring and summer with widespread floral displays, the "Most Beautiful Floral Area" competition (registration at the Town Hall), and entertainment moments. The grand finale is scheduled for the weekend of August 29-30, 2026; details of side events are communicated progressively by the organization.
Garessio is located in the upper Tanaro Valley, in the province of Cuneo. By car, it can be reached via the SS28 road of the Colle di Nava; the Garessio train station is served by the Ceva-Ormea line.
Floral displays and events take place throughout the 2026 spring and summer season, with a grand finale on the weekend of August 29-30. Entries for the "Most Beautiful Floral Area" competition are collected at the Garessio Town Hall.
