The festival celebrating the launch of the first Permanent Cycling Park in Alta Langa, Camerana
On July 19, 2026, the municipality of Camerana, in the province of Cuneo, becomes the headquarters for the festival inaugurating Biking Alta Langa, Italy's first Permanent Cycling Park dedicated to those who love riding away from traffic. This is not a hit-and-run race, but the launch of a project designed to last: transforming the hills of Alta Langa into a stable destination for cycle tourism and outdoor sports.
The park brings together 50 classified climbs, over 275 kilometres of low-traffic paved roads, and 10 timed sectors, with a total elevation gain of over 11,500 metres. This network spans 25 municipalities in Alta Langa, including Camerana, Monesiglio, Murazzano, Ceva, Castelnuovo di Ceva, Prunetto, Paroldo, Sale delle Langhe, Sale San Giovanni, Saliceto, and Montezemolo, restoring to cyclists the pleasure of riding on authentic roads.
The event on July 19 is a true village festival built around the bicycle. The programme includes a Family Bike ride on roads closed to traffic, designed for families and cyclists of all levels, and a cycle tour in the company of Gilberto Simoni, two-time winner of the Giro d'Italia. There is also space for storytelling, with sports journalist Beppe Conti, a historic voice of cycling, presenting his latest works.
Alongside the sporting activities, the day is enriched with exhibitions, food, music, and theatre: a way to celebrate the meeting of people and the authenticity of the area, and to showcase the genuine character of a territory distinct from the more famous Barolo and Barbaresco regions.
Biking Alta Langa stems from the work of the Unione Montana dell'Alta Langa and local entities, with the support of the Piedmont Region and the Province of Cuneo. The idea, as described by Camerana's mayor Giuseppe Gagliano, is to invest not in an ephemeral event but in building a lasting territorial identity: cyclists need meals, accommodation, stops, and stories, which translates into value for the small villages of Alta Langa all year round.
The park is free and open to the public, accessible 365 days a year: every climb and itinerary is documented with technical sheets, Strava tracks, downloadable GPX files, and permanent on-site signage. The inaugural event in Camerana is the perfect opportunity to discover all this in a single day, immersed in the landscapes of the Province of Cuneo and Piedmont.
The inaugural event on July 19, 2026, in Camerana marks the official birth of the Biking Alta Langa Permanent Cycling Park. The day combines sport and community celebration, involving the 25 municipalities of Alta Langa that are part of the project.
As this is the first edition, the event celebrates the opening of a network of 50 climbs, 275 km of low-traffic roads, and 10 timed sectors, free and open to the public all year round.
Detailed schedules for individual activities will be communicated by the organization on the official website www.bikingaltalanga.com in the weeks leading up to the event.
