The Salento potato takes center stage in the historic heart of Felline
The Felline Potato Festival is one of the most anticipated summer events in lower Salento. Organized by the Pro Loco Alliste-Felline, the event takes place in the charming historic center of Felline, a village in the Municipality of Alliste, in the province of Lecce (Puglia). Established in 1994, the festival reached its twenty-eighth edition in 2025, confirming itself as a collective ritual that draws residents and visitors every late July to its illuminated alleys, courtyards, and small squares.
At the heart of the celebration is the Sieglinde potato, known as the Patata Novella di Galatina, a yellow-fleshed variety native to the Salento region. The community's cooks prepare it in every form: fried, baked, stewed, in gnocchi, accompanying sauces, meat, and fish, and even in surprising sweet versions. All dishes are made with zero-kilometer ingredients, in the spirit of rustic cooking and seasonality.
The evening is enlivened by live Salento folk music: pizzica and traditional rhythms accompany the tastings until late at night. Recent editions have featured groups such as Lu Rusciu Nosciu, with tambourines, accordions, and square dances that involve everyone, young and old, in an authentic festive atmosphere.
The organization pays close attention to environmental sustainability, using biodegradable materials and promoting sustainable mobility. Gluten-free options are also available to make the festival accessible to a wide audience and families.
Felline is a village with discreet charm, rich in ancient courtyards and located just a few kilometers from the beaches of the Salento Ionian coast. The festival is an opportunity to discover the rural heritage of the Municipality of Alliste and the food and wine culture of this part of Puglia, where the potato has always been an identity-defining product linked to farming families.
The 2026 Felline Potato Festival is expected on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in the historic center of Felline, a village in the Municipality of Alliste (LE). The organization, managed by the Pro Loco Alliste-Felline, has announced that the complete program for the evening, including the musical line-up and gastronomic offerings, will be released closer to the event. As per tradition, the festival will revolve around the Patata Novella di Galatina and rustic Salento cuisine, accompanied by folk music. We recommend following the official Pro Loco channels for updates.
Felline is a village in the Municipality of Alliste (LE), in lower Salento. By car, it can be reached via the SS274 Gallipoli-Leuca, taking the Alliste/Felline exit. The nearest train station is served by the Ferrovie del Sud Est; the reference airport is Brindisi-Salento, about an hour and a half away.
Access to the festival in the historic center is free; you pay for what you consume at the food stalls, with potato-based dishes available at popular prices. Gluten-free options are available.
We recommend arriving early in the evening to find parking in the areas surrounding the village and checking the updated dates and program on the Pro Loco Alliste-Felline channels.
