The summer fair showcasing the crafts, art, and flavors of lower Salento
In the center of Miggiano, a small town in the Province of Lecce nestled in the lower Salento region of Puglia, the Exhibition Center transforms every summer into the stage for Expo Turismo – Art, Land and Nature of Salento. This fair is designed to highlight the Salento hinterland beyond its coastal tourism: a journey through the streets of the exhibition district where art, traditional crafts, agriculture, and gastronomy blend into a single popular festival. The event, which reached its sixth consecutive edition in 2025, is organized by the Municipality of Miggiano and has been granted patronage by the Ministry of Tourism.
The heart of the fair is high-quality Salento craftsmanship. Among the stands, you will find papier-mâché artists, masters of Lecce stone, wood and wrought-iron carvers, ceramicists, painters, and local sculptors. Each creation tells a story of an ancient trade and the ability of local artists to bridge tradition and innovation, offering visitors an authentic panorama of Salento's expertise.
Ample space is dedicated to food and wine: the stands offer traditional Salento dishes, with tastings of wines, oils, cheeses, and local sweets, alongside producers dedicated to the land and organic farming, ranging from food to cosmetics and coffee. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the agri-food excellence of lower Salento directly from the hands of the producers.
The fair day concludes with a major evening event on the stage of the equipped square. In the 2025 edition, the spotlight was on the Ridiamoci Sud Festival, one of the largest comedy festivals in Southern Italy, featuring guests such as Giampaolo Catalano, the Salento duo I Malfattori, and Gli Scemifreddi. Music, comedy, and entertainment keep the audience engaged until late at night, always with free admission.
Expo Turismo is much more than a fair: it is a way to experience the soul of the most authentic Salento—the one of the hinterland and its villages—in a single evening. Strolling among the artisans' works, tasting local products, and laughing under the stars makes this event one of the most anticipated summer gatherings in the area, attracting visitors from all over the Province of Lecce and neighboring towns.
In 2026, Expo Turismo – Art, Land and Nature of Salento will return to animate the Exhibition Center of Miggiano, in the Province of Lecce. Salento event calendars point to August 18, 2026, as the date, pending official confirmation and the program from the Municipality of Miggiano.
The fair's formula will remain the tried-and-tested one: stands of Salento craftsmanship (papier-mâché, Lecce stone, wrought iron, ceramics), works by local painters and sculptors, tastings of wines and traditional products, and a major evening show with free admission. The detailed program, including the evening's guests, will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published by the Municipality of Miggiano. The date indicated by Salento event calendars is August 18, 2026, at the Exhibition Center. As per tradition, the following are expected: an exhibition of Salento crafts and art, food and wine stands with traditional products and wines, and a free evening show. The line-up and schedule will be communicated in the weeks prior to the event.
