A forum dedicated to the volcano's wine

The Etna Wine Forum is an annual event held every October to celebrate the wines and gastronomic treasures of the southwestern slopes of Mount Etna. The festival takes place in Biancavilla, a town in the Metropolitan City of Catania, Sicily, famously known as the "Gateway to the Sun" of the volcano. Established in 2022, the forum has grown with each edition to become a benchmark for enthusiasts, industry professionals, producers, and culinary tourists.

The Venue: Villa delle Favare

The heart of the event is Villa delle Favare, a historic 18th-century residence in the center of Biancavilla. The villa's courtyard and halls host tasting counters, masterclasses, and conferences, providing an elegant setting that connects wine to the local architectural and cultural heritage.

Tastings, Masterclasses, and Show Cooking

The forum's program blends technical expertise with educational experiences:

• Tasting counters featuring wineries from the southwestern slopes of Etna and across Sicily;
• Masterclasses and seminars led by sommeliers and experts from the Italian Sommelier Foundation;
• Show cooking sessions with local chefs and special guests;
• Talks and conferences on volcanic viticulture, olive growing, food and wine tourism, and climate change.

The Territory: Etna's Volcanic Soils

The Etna Wine Forum highlights the mineral-rich volcanic soils that define the southwestern side of the volcano—a terroir capable of producing white and red wines with a distinct identity. Beyond wine, the event showcases other local specialties of Biancavilla, from prickly pears to extra virgin olive oil, highlighting a region that uses culinary tourism as a key driver for development.

A Growing Success

With over four thousand visitors and fifty wineries involved in the 2025 edition, the Etna Wine Forum has established itself as one of the most dynamic wine events in Eastern Sicily, successfully combining regional promotion, haute cuisine, and wine culture.
