ERetici. The Streets of Theatre

A laboratory for new voices in contemporary theatre

ERetici. Le strade dei teatri is the creative residency project promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Residence Centre, the entity that brings together L'arboreto – Teatro Dimora in Mondaino and La Corte Ospitale in Rubiera. Founded in 2019, the project is dedicated to young male and female artists under 28 from the national scene working with theatre, dance, performance arts, and contemporary circus. Each edition selects an original project and supports it through five residency periods distributed between May and September, in the hilly village of Mondaino and in Rubiera.

Mondaino and the Teatro Dimora

The Mondaino heart of the project is the Teatro Dimora, set within the Arboreto park, at Via Arboreto 6 in Mondaino, a small municipality in the hinterland of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna, a few kilometers from the border with the Marche region. Here, artists find a secluded space immersed in nature, far from the logic of frantic production: a place designed for research, experimentation, and listening. It is in this setting that, at the end of the process, the open rehearsal for the public takes place.

The open rehearsal: watching theatre being born

The most anticipated moment for those following the project is the open rehearsal, the public presentation of the work carried out during the residencies. This is not a finished show, but a rare opportunity: to witness a work still under construction, to grasp its insights, the risk, and the fragility of the creative process. Admission is free, and the event is open to everyone, from contemporary theatre enthusiasts to the simply curious.

A story of emerging artists

Since 2019, ERetici has supported the journeys of numerous young authors and companies: from the Phoenicopteridae by Collettivo Inciampo (1st edition) to the editions by Massimo Monticelli, Claudio Larena, Gaetano Palermo, Violetta Cottini, and Anita Pomario. The project has established itself as one of the most attentive observers of new Italian dramaturgy, with the support of ERT – Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione, which monitors the creative process through an evaluation observatory.

Concrete support for creation

In addition to space and time for residency, the selected project receives financial support, food, and accommodation in the guest houses of Teatro Dimora and La Corte Ospitale, as well as critical, artistic, and technical support. A real investment in the creativity of new generations, making ERetici a benchmark event for those who want to discover the theatre of tomorrow in the Province of Rimini and throughout Emilia-Romagna.
