Shows under the stars at the Malatesta Castle of Coriano
When the warm season arrives, the CorTe Theatre of Coriano leaves its hall and moves outdoors, within the walls of the Malatesta Castle. Thus, CortEstate was born, the summer review that brings theatre, comedy, and music to the heart of this hilly village in the Valconca, in the province of Rimini. It is a young but already much-loved event: now in its third edition, it has become one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Coriano summer.
The magic of CortEstate lies entirely in its location. The shows are held in a small amphitheater created from the ancient ruins of the manor, which becomes a natural stage for an audience of about 200 people. It is an intimate space, where the audience is very close to the artists and the Valconca hills form the backdrop. In case of bad weather, the shows are moved indoors, to the hall of the CorTe Theatre.
CortEstate is not just about shows. Before each evening, in the castle garden, the Piccola Osteria della Cantinetta della Corte sets up tables and chairs for those who want to enjoy an aperitif or dinner at sunset, while admiring the view. It is a ritual that many spectators do not miss, and which makes the evening a complete experience rather than just a night out at the theatre.
The program alternates concerts, comedy shows, cabaret, and circus-theatre, with a particular focus on laughter and quality entertainment. Over the years, comedians known to the general public and international street theatre companies have performed on the CortEstate stage. The review is organized by the Fratelli di Taglia Theatre Production Centre, the same entity that manages the CorTe Theatre, with the support of the Municipality of Coriano and the Emilia-Romagna Region.
CortEstate is the CorTe Theatre's way of continuing to live even in summer, enhancing one of Coriano's symbolic places. For those visiting the Romagna Riviera or the hills of the Rimini hinterland, it is the perfect opportunity to discover a less touristy and more authentic corner of Emilia-Romagna, away from the crowds of the beaches but just a few kilometers from the sea.
The third edition of CortEstate runs from May 14 to July 11, 2026, alternating a musical preview and a comedy review in the setting of the Malatesta Castle of Coriano. The shows start at 7:30 PM, preceded by the aperitif and sunset dinner curated by the Piccola Osteria della Cantinetta della Corte. The review is produced by the Fratelli di Taglia Theatre Production Centre with the support of the Municipality of Coriano and the Emilia-Romagna Region.
The shows are held in the open-air amphitheater of the Malatesta Castle (about 200 seats); in case of bad weather, they are moved to the CorTe Theatre Coriano.
