A taste of contemporary dance in the Rimini hinterland

On July 5 and 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM, L'Arboreto – Teatro Dimora in Mondaino, a small town in the Province of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna, hosts the open rehearsal of Madeleine, the new choreographic project by Stefania Tansini. This is a rare opportunity for the public: to witness not a finished performance, but the living work of a creation still under construction, born from a residency period in this place dedicated to scenic research.

Madeleine: the body as a place of transfiguration

Freely inspired by Marcel Proust's famous passage where a sensory experience causes past and present to collapse, Madeleine develops choreographic research starting from a material and sensory investigation of the body, understood as a place of transfiguration and tension. Stefania Tansini's signature lies entirely in this study of the body as an unstable and transformative entity, suspended between form and dissolution, between control and abandonment, between precision and liberation. The project was selected for the Open Studios of NID Platform 2025 and Danse Elargie 2026, a sign of a rapidly rising artistic path in the Italian contemporary dance scene.

L'Arboreto, home of creation

L'Arboreto – Teatro Dimora in Mondaino is a Residency Centre of Emilia-Romagna: a place immersed in greenery where artists and companies are welcomed to conceive and refine their works. Open rehearsals are the moment when this laboratory work is presented to the public, often followed by a meeting with the artists that allows for dialogue about the creative process. It is an intimate and generous format, far from the logic of the big event, which makes Mondaino a small capital of scenic research.

Inside ResiDance and the Santarcangelo Festival

The open rehearsal of Madeleine is at the intersection of two important networks. On one hand, ResiDance, now in its twelfth edition, a project of the national Anticorpi XL network that supports choreographic residencies for new generations: for 2026, seven artistic projects have been selected, including Stefania Tansini's. On the other hand, the Santarcangelo Festival, Italy's oldest theatre festival, whose 2026 edition (the 56th, from July 2 to 12) also brings part of its program to L'Arboreto in Mondaino. Attending this open rehearsal therefore means connecting with the beating heart of the contemporary scene, in a cozy and spectator-friendly setting.
